I was thinking of letting loose my vacation hold of 660 Audio CD's. Would members who are bailing out be able to fulfill their WL on auto-request on time ?  I can confim their order immediately and mail within a day via media mail.  Would they need to get it by the Membership 2/15 cut off date for me to get credits ? Or, would it be ok for me to PM each person that orders and have them confirm they received the order ( even though they did not get it yet). I doubt media Mail can get it to anyone in a week.  I am afaid that I will not get the credits if mail out orders. This two week window is stressing us all out.

Hey Larry! That would be awesome if you do so to help out members looking to spend credits.

They would not be needed to be received prior to 2/15 as all people not enrolled in a membership level will at that point become a la carte and still be able to access the site and mark books received.

Unfortunately, with all the animosities and confusion, some might not come back on to mark them received.

Personally, I would use printed postage if you can to guarantee your credit (I've been doing it for years just so I don't have to worry about people marking anything received). Totally understand if you don't want to or can't do paid postage, but it's a way to take some of the worry out of it.

I personally wouldn't worry about this. This site has safeguards in place for members that don't come back and mark things received. If a member goes inactive the site will mark it for you, just ask the site to look into a problem book if you don't see it happen after the lost date.

Unleash those books and earn some credits!

Larry, I added you to my friends list. I looked pages 1 and 10 of your bookshelf, and then your Wishlist.   I thought I would come back to your bookshelf after things calm down for you.   I do love audio books.

OMG, Larry - your bookshelf now stands at 448 - down 212!  You'll have to hock the farm to mail all those out - LOL.   That's a terrific response.

I can't believe all the member's special requests that I had to go through.

No cats, no dogs , no smoke, no cigars, no cigarettes, no chewing tobacco, no drugs, no cocaine, no marijuana, no husbands, no wives.  God, please stop it. It's a free service ( or it was ).

I have a rural post office with one employee and he appreciate any business. He said I could drop off a load of mailings at a time. I will leave him a blank check and he will mail everything out. Great service !!

Larry, I have just posted a few books on CD and one on tape.  I like the tapes.   But I wanted to ask have you listened to  these 2 series?   I love the voices.  I see  you have a long commute.   I dont have these listed but thought they might interest you and I would post them for you if you wanted them.   You might have already listened to them.   This wasnt an ad for my bookshelf more of chit chat about audio books.

The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency (The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Bk 1) (Audio CD) (Unabridged) :: Alexander McCall Smith, Lisette Lecat (Narrator)

Tears of the Giraffe (No 1 Ladies Detective agency, Bk 2) (Audio CD) (Unbridged) :: Alexander McCall Smith, Lisette Lecat (Narrator)

This is a hoot on audio too.

Here's an update on this. I'm really upset because I just started my last audio book and have credits tied up in this. Don't list books you can't mail. Don't check books as mailed until they're mailed.

Him: Hello, my new Audio Book friends. If you ordered some Audio CD's from me be patient while I mail them out. In one week I had requests for 308 Audio's !

Me: Did you already mail mine? They were marked mailed 2/11, which is why I'm asking. If you didn't mail them yet, but marked them mailed, this is a serious PBS no no. Having done that with so many people, you could have your account removed. The problem is, PBS is going to start asking ME if I received them, because it "thinks" you mailed them and they should be here by now. So then *I* get looked at as suspicious for not having checked them in. Did you know that when people check in books, they have the option to say when they were mailed? If too many people note that you mailed them way after you did, you could be removed. Anyway, I'm not worried, but could you let me know because I've been checking the box each day and if they're not even shipped yet, I'll stop looking for a while. Thanks. :-)

Him: I have so many to mail I wanted to check " mailed ". They will all get to the recipients by the "expected" PBS date. I mailed out about 150 already. I would advise you to wait a while before checking the box.

Me: Nope, this is not OK. Total violation of the rules. Please return my credits, since you haven't mailed the books. 4 credits please. Thank you.

ETA: I got my credits back quickly (thank you), but still have to deal with getting this cancelled off my "on its way to you" tab, asking the member write in to PBS, wait for PBS and worry I'll get my account cancelled for not checking in books, etc. While I appreciate the "situation" as it was explained to me by PBS (also, thanks), I would rather have stuck with the rules of the club.

Larry, glad to see your shelf is 'on vacation'.   Don't know how you paid all that postage to mail out hundreds in one month!

Larry -- I wanted to say thank you for the books I ordered -- I encountered no problems whatsoever!  I think you did the right thing; even the Help Center notes there are situations where books can be marked as mailed before they are actually mailed.  I doubt there have been many people in your situation before!
