Not sure what to do in this situation. I got a notification that a book on my wishlist had been posted. I also got a PM from the person with the book that said the cover was torn loose a couple of inches. I don't pay credits for unpostable books. If know I can click "not now" and it will be put "on hold" on my list and I won't lose my place. The thing is, I don't want it "on hold". Also, it says I can only do this once per book. This doesn't seem fair to me, because I may have a real need to do that later, or what if the next offer I get for this book is also unpostable? Do I have any other options?

If the book is unpostable, the sender would need to cancel the order. This would preserve your spot in the wish list line.

It is not your responsibility to cancel this transaction. The other person posted a damaged book. They should not have done that. It is up to them to cancel the order. I would send them a PM telling them to cancel the order. If they refuse or ignore you, you can send in feedback and TPTB will take care of it.

This member is wrong to do this.  They need to cancel the order and put the book in the book bazaar.  But they cannot cancel until after you accept.

(You may also report them to PBS.  Include a copy of the PM.  PBS can cancel the order.)

Make sure that you do not let the time run out on this WL offer!  That will get you taken off the WL.

Thanks. After I thought some more, I kinda figured they weren't supposed to post it. Even if they did send a PM informing me of the problem.

Ugh! I dread this.

As much as you dread it, you are doing the right thing. That member needs to take responsibility for violating the site rules and hopefully won't post any other unpostables. You are helping all responsible members when you report one who ignores a rule.

Good for you and Thanks!

I PMed him, but haven't heard back yet. I am glad that he gave me a heads up about the condition, but I just won't pay a credit for an unpostable book. Even a wishlisted book. I would be willing to consider it as a 2 for 1, usually. He wanted me to take a look at his shelf in hopes of saving on postage, so I doubt he'll offer a deal. Anyway, we'll see how it goes.

He's been a member longer than me but only has a few forum posts, so he may not really know any better. That's not an excuse, but it could be the reason. Anyway, he'll know better now. devil
