Can you tell me how you like it? And which  one you like better and why?

My Nook has died and hubby is letting me get a new one.  Trying to decide which one I want.

I loved my Nook Color until the new 1.2 update came out and it fritzed it out and apparently I wasn't the only one judging by the problems on their Nook discussion on their website. Now the NC won't stay connected to our internet and if it is connected knocks my laptop and my husband's desktop and his Nextbook3 tablet offline. Barnes and Nobles customer service is overwhelmed and not much help. We are going to try a new router and see if that helps. It's really a great ereader but the techs can give no answer as to why it was working prior to the update with no problems and now is a mess. I think they yielded to public pressure for the new update  they have been hyping and launched this  update knowing there were bugs in it. I would talk with personnel in a Barnes and Nobles store if you have one nearby. Unfortunately, there is not one in our area. I would purchase another one without hesitation because the color and readability is great.

I have both. Personally, I don't think I would want to live with just a Nook Color. I prefer the eink for reading outside and at night. The back light can give me headaches if I read too long. All in all, I am really happy that I have both devices. If I had to choose between one, I would choose the eink model.

Thanks for the input.  i went with the  nook color and it came with the new software already loaded.   I'm also going to see if I can send my eink  nook in to be repaired.

I updated my NookColor and have had no problems with it.  I love the apps, but they are not very numerous at the moment.  I'm sure they will have more available, but there are only about 140 right now to choose from.

I have a nook color, it is the only e-reader I own.

I love it!!!! And I have never had any problems with it.

With the upgrade or anything else. I don't know why so many people have had problems??? I am thankful that I haven't though!

Good luck with yours! I'm happy for you that you got one! Enjoy!

I had to edit twice 'cause my typing is terrible this morning, LOL!

Help

I dont know if I have this update that you are all talking about.. Do I have to go into the store for that?

Also are we ever going to be able to trade ebooks files on here, that would be great but cant find any info on it on the site.

Last question have any of you heard of a website called ebooknovels.com  It is a site where you can pay a monthly fee or a lifetime membership and download books.. I did the life time and I now cant get on the site.. I mean I already down loaded more books then I need but when I see a new book or someone tell me about one I would like to try to get it on there before ordering on BN.. Or do you know of any good trading sites

Thanks Roberta

From what I've read, that site was illegal.

Here is a recent post about it

Also the article has a link to the current site, I looked at their ereader store and all the ereaders are priced much higher than manufacturer prices.

ETA no maybe that's not the same site as ebooknovels, not sure.

For questions, tips and troubleshooting, MobileRead has a Nook forum Here.

I think you have to join to post, but it's open to read. Lots of people willing to help, and share tips.

I don't know of a single site that does this that's legal for eBooks. The only thing that comes close is a legitimate library that loans ebooks.

The ones I've seen take your money, then connect you to 'darknet' (illegal) trading sites where scanned/pirated books float around. What you'll be getting is probably poorly formated, OCR'd books with 'artifacts' and no corrections. If the content even matches the file name at all.

They're scams. Besides providing you with pirated copies, they then can mess with your credit cards, and close up shop when caught, leaving tons of people having paid for services that weren't legal with no one to go after, money they can't get back, illegal files and a credit card number that's comprimised.

Always check a place thoroughly if it seems like you're getting a lot for nothing. In the end, you'll get taken.

Also are we ever going to be able to trade ebooks files on here, that would be great but cant find any info on it on the site.

The only official answer I've ever seen from here is a big NO.

For one thing, they're not set up to do that.

For another, unless they join the other places that facilitate the legal loans from Amazon and other ebook publishers, they'd be doing something very illegal.

It's illegal to share ebooks that aren't in the Public Domain and where permission isn't specificially given to share. Most eBooks have clear warnings that they're not tradeable.

I can't see PBS as wanting to bother with it all.
