I've had a fast-moving book on my wishlist for several months. Have been at the #1 spot for about two weeks. The wishlist indicates that there have been at least 7 wishes granted for this book since I've been sitting at #1. Granted, I do have a "no smoking" RC, but I order a lot of books and so far have been refused twice since enacting it two years ago. It seems unlikely that 7 people have declined my rc for one book.
My question is: Am I notified if someone cannot send a book because it doesn't meet the RC? I know there's a spot on the "Cannot Send" page where you can put a comment, but does the recipient ever see these comments? Last Edited on: 2/25/10 12:03 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Yes, you should get a notification that it was refused. Did you double check to make sure it's not on hold? |

Maybe 7 people had the book on WL hold before you and unholded it when they realized they were at # 1? Seems unlikely but it may happen. Last Edited on: 2/24/10 11:00 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Or it could be that the 7 books were posted directly to someone's WL instead of the FIFO. |

The book's not on hold; was on auto request until I changed it this week. |

The person with the WL book wouldn't even see your RC until after you had said you wanted the book. It all sounds rather strange to me. |

My best guess would be to agree with D.G. and Jenna...or a combination of both! |

Sounds like rotten luck, I have only had one person refuse me because of my "no smoking" RC, but they told me the reason they had refused me. Maybe it's a combination of people putting the book off hold and posting directly to someone else...Sorry :( |

I bet a lot of members went on hold because of the severe weather problems in many states in the last month. My kid was out of school for 3 full weeks. Up until the weather turned warm a few days ago there were still side streets and parkign lots here that hard to travel. Even as late as Friday there were people at the post office coming to collect mail because it could not be delivered to their streets. (I was there to mail books and the line was long). I had my account on hold for about a week of the worst of it because I was worried about my power staying on. We didn't get the last big storm either but a lot of areas did. So my opinion was that it was a combo of people who had been on hold and others posting the WL directly to members behind you. I've noticed since the economy tanked that the activity on the Is This On Your WL threads in the genre forums and the BB seems to have increased as people try to ship multiples. It's the only way some of us can afford to mail books. |

yup I guess it's just my bad luck and timing. S'ok, I'll be patient. To make matters worse, I get about 3 emails a day telling me that "Another verion of the book has been posted". Every time I have seen that and clicked on the link, there is no "Order this book" button. Someone else got to it before me. Murphy's law has caught up with me I guess. But I'm smiling because I know that one of these days I'll get that email that says "Wish granted". Last Edited on: 2/24/10 2:52 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Debbie--If you don't mind receiving the other version instead, why not put both on your wishlist? Then you'll be offered the first of either available version. If it works like it's supposed to, when your wish is granted, the system should automatically put the other version on hold so that you don't end up getting offered different versions at the same time. |

Over the past two weeks since I've been at #1 I figured that I'd be patient and wait for the paperback version (the other ver. is hardcover). Yeah, before that, I should've put the HC on my wishlist. I guess if this goes on for another week (staying at #1 with lots of wishes granted to others), I'll put the HC on my wishlist. |

I hear ya, there is nothing more frustrating than to be at #1 on the WL and notice that wishes were granted last week or it was posted a few days ago. It doesn't happen very often to me, but when it does it seems to be paranormals and cozy mysteries--I think those type of books get traded from one individual to another a lot in the games forum, maybe?
