If you want to upload a photo, use the link at the bottom of the page that says "edit book data".  You will need the ISBN of the book to do so.    You would have to find the photo of the book online and size it appropriately before uploading - IIRC, I sized to a maximum of 80X125 or so.

Ah, L.G. you have not been paying attention!! :)  There are new guidelines for posting sizes. The dimensions are now recommended up to 320x500 and size is up to 5MB. Patti, try this topic to learn more than you want about images and book data:

Also, when uploading an image, make sure to use the upload book covers at the bottom of the page, the editing button will not work for uploading images.

Hello Patti,

Just saw your post. I found the images and uploaded them. They should appear soon.

How long does it take for a cover image to show after you've uploaded it?  I did a bunch last week and I'm worried that I didn't hit the upload button.

Gwinna, after the images have been uploaded, they need to be approved by the Image Team and that typically takes a couple of days but depending on their workload, could take up to a week.  You can always PM someone with a BI or BIC logo next to their name to find out when the latest approval batch was completed.

(As of this post, all images submitted through the morning of 8/7/08 have been through the approval process.  Those submitted after that time are still awaiting approval.)

I've uploaded a bunch of covers. I just save them from Amazon, crop them & submit. They're usually up within a day.

Elizabeth, did you use the upload book covers link at the bottom of the page? You have to use that link or they will not upload.

Has anyone had images "skipped" because there's already one pending in the system?  I've been trying to post images for 4 books, but the system won't take them, even though Robin said above that the queue is empty.  I would think that there's just someone out there posting the same images, but I've been trying to get  three of these up for almost a month now, off and on.

I've successfully posted others recently, but these four won't go in: 0394533321, 051748921X, 0393059049, and 0806985682.  Any ideas?

Karen,

I'll put a message on the board for images and copy the ISBN #'s you provided. Maybe someone can offer an explanation.

Karen, when you know the queue is cleared of images and you get that msg anyway, there is another problem with the image. Are you sure it is a .jpg? There's no chance they are all EXTREMELY large? Feel free to PM me and I'll give you an address to send them to so that I can see if I can see what the problem might be.

If they're not sized correctly they won't upload.

I just posted those images and they've been approved, so let's see if they show up this time.

(All images posted through the time of this post have been through approval process.)

Wow, thanks for the quick response everybody!  I see that the images are all up now, so it looks like everything's fine.

Sherry, I've posted several covers in the past with no problems, but I'll check these ones when I get home to make sure I wasn't making some careless mistake.

Thanks all!

<smacks head> They were .gif files!  Doh!  Looks like I checked the size but nothing else.

Thanks Sherry!  I downloaded it from a site I've used for images before, so I just assumed it was the right type.  Now that I know they're not always consistent, I can be extra vigilant.  I think I'm getting a little more computer savvy every day. :)

Hope you're feeling well.  Have a great weekend.

I recently figured out one more dumb way to mess up image upload:  move the image before you hit the "upload images" button.  I was trying to keep track of which images I had submitted and which I hadn't, and wasn't thinking about the fact that PBS wasn't going to get the image until I hit that button, and then wouldn't know where to look for it.  Apparently there is only one error message for image upload, no matter what goes wrong.  If PBS can't find the image on your computer, then you still get the "skipped / image pending" message.

One more question on this topic please!  I just uploaded my first image...if it is approved, will it automatically show up on your shelf or will you have to do something else?

Thanks, Renae

I noticed when I submit data corrections, there are 3 sizes of the book's cover image at the bottom.   Are we to make sure all 3 are there?  If not, are we to do something?  Does this mean we do not have to use the upload cover images at the bottom of each screen?   Sorry if I missed this somewhere else.  Karen
