I was updating some book information and images this morning.  I had two copies of a book cover on my computer - one with white space and one without.  I accidentally picked the wrong one, so that's what uploaded.  Since the book page and the edit book data page now just say "awaiting approval" under the image, I can't fix it.  Is there a way for me to fix it or let the approver know that I know it's wrong and provide them with the correct image?

Good question, Jenna...the same happened to me the other day and I just explained in the 'reason' for editing what happened but I never heard back from anybody...

You will have to wait for the incorrect one to be denied before you can upload the correct one. Did it myself the other day, so happens to any of us, even those that are supposed to know better! hahahaha

Oh, forgot to tell you how to know when you can upload the correct one. Try every couple days, and as long as it says UPLOADED: 0 and tells you there's still one in the queue, you need to wait. It wll take once yours is finally denied or replaced by a book image team member with a correct one for you already. So, also check the listing, you might discover someone put up a good one for you. You can always overwrite it with yours if you want to, even if theirs is good, by inputtin the ISBN into the book upload page, listed under Member Tools link under the My Account column.

Just an FYI for future use...when I do those, once I do the cropping and resizing, I just save the corrected image that I'm going to upload right over the initial one on my hard drive, that way I only have one of each cover to deal with. Works a treat! And then once it's been approved and added, I delete the lot of them.

That's what I started doing after that happened to me, Cheryl! :P

Thanks.  I actually did not crop the file myself.  I downloaded it from Amazon, remembered their images don't work, so I went and got it from Goodreads where the images are already cropped.  So I had two completely different files.  I'm used to my mac where when I click on an image, I see a preview of it, but that doesn't happen on my work PC, so I ended up picking the wrong one.

Also, Cheryl says she deletes her images after they have been approved and appear on the listing. If you in anyway have the room to do so, I highly recommend keeping images for at least a few months. We've had glitches as will happen with any computer system where our recent work has been lost, and many an image uploader has been thankful that they kept their images after they were approved.

There are currently 3 ways to upload book images. Which do you recommend?

I've noticed that if I upload images for books that don't have any at all, by using the button on the book details page, mine appear very quickly. I was going through my wish list yesterday and before I even got to the bottom of the page, the images I'd uploaded for the top of the page were already there.

I replaced an image for The Mapping of Love and Death (Maisie Dobbs, Bk 7) two or three days ago. The image on this listing is for the unabridged audio book (it's square and says "unabridged" right on it). I uploaded the actual hardcover image through the Edit Book Data link. I didn't change anything else about the listing. That new image is not there.

I uploaded the real cover for Songs of Love and Death using the Upload Book Cover Images link on the Member Tools page, and that one has also not shown up. The one that's there now is a place holder provided by the publisher.

So, for the image approvers, is one way better than another? It's definitely easiest to upload images for books that don't already have them, but I'd like to know the best way to send in images for books that do have them but they're wrong.
