I am new at Paperback Swap, and new at scanning, too.  I have been scanning in covers for my books.  Most of the time, the covers show up almost instantly.  But I have three that havn't been approved no matter what I do.    I've read all the standard help docs.  I'm using a flat bed scanner, and a program called HP Solutions Center to do the scanning.  The scans look good on my screen.  The only thing I can figure that might be a problem is when I veiw the image in the Solutions Center, it says one size (lets use 5 MB for an example) but when I pull it up with the browse button on PBS, it is much smaller (like 1 KB)  I'd appreciate any advice...I like looking at pictures better than blue boxes!

when you submit the images to PBS, they must already be smaller than 5 MB in file size. And, cropped to the book edges. (just in case your scans are larger).

Also, if you are replacing existing images, it can take up to 2 weeks for the actual image to be updated (apparently they host the images off site somewhere and it can take a long time to update them). if you are submittin g new images, it is faster.

All images go through an image approval process, which is typically within a day or two, as well. (but that can add to the time).

Welcome to PBS!

(Someone from the image team will be along to help you further, I am sure.)

Hi Sara J. Your images are probably not being rejected. The image approvers will send you a PM if there is a reason they can't use your image. Some just take longer than others, and as Sara P said, if you are replacing another image on some of them, those can take much longer to update than the ones that have no image.

I'm glad to hear someone will contact me if the image can't be used...I hadn't seen that bit of info anywhere.  I can be patient a bit longer.  It's been at least two weeks, I can't be sure exactly, as I deleated all my old tries at these covers.

The ones in question are new images.  I'm glad to hear I can replace old images- some of the ones on my bookshelf are less than ideal (but better than nothing!)

Sara, I am part of the image team.  If you like you can volunteer to join the teams.  You would contribute as you are doing now, but you have access to the forums.  When approvers clear the image queue, they will post in the forum.  Once you see the image queue clear, then you can look for your images - which could take up to 2 weeks to appear.  Also you can post questions, ask for advise, share information etc.

You would want to contact  Anna C.  Anna B. (classicana) or contact the team directly by this link  Contact Us and then click on the feedback button.  Request to join the Data and Image Teams.

There isn't any obligation on how much or how little you participate, it just gives you access to other members on the team.  Hope to see you in the forums.
