This book is at the top of my list when I think of favorites! Great book , scary, gross, sick and twisted just the way I like my horror;) always a top recomendation! Won't be sorry you ordered this one.
You don't find a lot of good horror writers anymore but when I found Brian Keene I can't put his books down, his writing is beyond just 'good', he grips you from the first page until you are so engrossed you don't realize you're almost finished.
Six friends on the way back from a concert take a wrong turn and end up in the 'wrong part' of town, a group of 'thugs' approach them and feeling threatened they take off running toward a house at the end of the street. As they enter the creepy house they soon discover they are not alone and have entered the house from hell!
Some pages of this story are so gross you have to have a strong stomach to get through those pages without putting it down but the story is so gripping you won't want to put it down.
An amazing, un-put-downable story about six teens who get stranded in the hood and end up in a situation that can only be described as "House of 1,000 Corpses" meets "The Hills Have Eyes" meets "Wrong Turn," set in a bad part of the city.
What made this book great was the descriptions, many of them gut-wrenchingly disgusting. In fact, I took off half a star from my rating because the images are never going to leave my mind and they are seriously messed up.
I'm glad Keene didn't pretend to write another zombie novel (who told him he could do that?) and stuck with his forte, which is suspenseful horror. If you need a quick read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, this is it.
Didn't care too much for the change-of-heart scenes, but I guess Keene had to get himself out of the painted corner somehow.
