If you liked Redwall, then I definitely recommend the Mistmantle Chronicles, particularly for younger readers, as it is somewhat shorter than the epic Redwall novels. It's a story of classic adventure and heroics, that mixes elements from "The Wind in the Willows" and "Watership Down".
If you like the Narnia Chronicles, you will like this! Classic story of good triumphing over evil.
This is a fantastic, suspenseful and emotional story about a 'misfit' squirrel named Urchin who is pitted against the odds of an evil captain squirrel (Husk) and an evil even darker than the island Mistmantel has ever known. I've read the book several times and still can't manage to put it down when I'm reading it! A great read for children and adults. Parents can rest assured that Montgomery's 'Urchin of the Riding Stars' is wholesome and healthy for their children's minds and safe for reading out loud to the whole family. But beware: once you've started it's hard to stop! There are also four other books in the Mistmantle Chronicles that are just as awesome! I highly recommend them (especially book five!)
