I recently found a stash of plastic sleeves from a well-known candle company - their logo, etc is printed on - they're used to hold votives when biying them at their store.

I've never used them for candles so there's no scent at all, but I'm wondering if 1) the USPS allows this if book is going 1st class, and 2) would the receiver of the book take issue? I know the second item is something we can't know til it happens but would it bother 'you'? They're such a great size for one standard, big hist/rom or the like, or for 2-3 smaller category romances.

Sounds fine (and much better than many things I've received). It certainly wouldn't be a problem for me.

Yea!!! thanks, everyone, for the feedback. they are nice and sturdy, thicker mil than I've been using and it would have been a shame to toss them out.

Go for it, especially if they are unused (no wax residue inside).  Many PBS members appreciate recycling, I doubt you'll receive any negative comments.  USPS 1st class also will not be a problem.  Doubtful that Media Mail would be a problem either,PBS members recycle grocery store and newspaper sleeves all the time, and yours couldn't be considered advertising if the others are not.

If there is a lot of advertising or logos on the packages, I turn them inside-out before packaging books in them.  Yesterday I send out a batch of books in a wrapping I got on new Jockey shorts.  (Inside-out, of course)  I wonder what the recipient will think of this?---the PO didn't mind at all!

I send about half of my books in bags from Subway.  Most go media mail.  USPS hasn't had a problem with it, and the clerk at the counter at my PO said the bags would be considered ok since the book is very unrelated to Subway.
