I know I can use Custom DC for a book mailing to a non-member, but I'd love to use the printable postage for mailing books to my sister. Anyone know if this can be done and how-to? Searching the help docs was no help (other than finding references to custom dc). THANKS!

Yes, you can.

The simplest way to do it is to post a book into the system with a huge amount of copies already (something by John Grisham or Danielle Steel). Then go to your bookshelf and click on the title of the book.  On the right hand side you'll see a line that says "Mail to a friend". Click on that and then just put your information in.

THANK YOU! I wouldn't have thought to 'fudge' the book title...this is a re-issue of a kids' book that currently has 23 folks wishing, so I knew I couldn't do it the 'regular' way

I do the "dummy" book thing when I have a WL game book to send.

Yeah! Done - I figure I've got postage money tied up in PBS, so glad to hear this is 'ok' to do. And how many copies of Angels & Demons does PBS really need? (that was the number 1 posted book according to the PBS Top 50 list, so I used it as my 'dummy' to send Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs to my sis)...

Seems like a lot of us are using Angels and Demons. I wonder how many are really in the system.

I bet it's still a lot of real copies - it seemed there was entire shelf of just that book at Half-Priced Books the other day...

Angels and Demons currently has 2454 copies posted.  I was curious so I added it to my reminder list.  Of course, the number is probably higher now than it was 10 minutes ago.

I have a couple of books on my bookshelf with more than 100 copies in the system, but nowhere near this.  Mine are going to the library sale next week.

Well crap .... I never thought of using the "dummy" system to mail wishlisted books for other situations. I have to go to the post office in a few minutes to mail a couple books for swaps - both wishlisted. Now I know ... truly no more standing in line for me! :)

Susan - I know! I mail books to my sister (and nieces, her daughters) all the time - I've been schlepping books to the Post Office for them and for whom I do not begrudge the inconvience of it, but it was the paying out of pocket when I had postage money sitting right here at PBS that bugged me! My shelf is not moving this month & I have a ton of PBS postage money, but not a lot in the Real Life bank this month - otherwise, it would NEVER have occurred to me to ask this question and get such an awesome answer.

That's funny, Angels and Demons is my standby "dummy" book, too.  Much more useful than waiting for it to be requested!
