OK, here's my silly question.  Is there a way to put my bookshelf on hold, but still get wishlisted books ASIDE from marking my wishlist as automatic?

Unfortunately Edie, that is the only way to continue to receive WL books while on Vacation Hold.

Boo Hiss.  Can you click to hold book individually like you can on SADVD?

If you are talking about your Bookshelf and individual Hold, you can, but you will lose your place in the FIFO line. The  books are posted as of the date the Hold is removed. The Wish List Hold retains your place in line, but the Bookshelf one does not.
