The value edition is usually a cheaper bound book that's sold at discount stores like Walmart and Big Lots for a cheaper price.  The binding and paper is usually of a lower quality and the cover is frequently asthetically ruined by having a big banner that says "Bargain Book" or "Value Edition" or something.

Well it doesn't stop me from reading them.  But I'm not a collector adn those big "this was a cheap book" banners can be tacky.

Works for me.  There is a book on my wish list that has a long list of other people waiting on it, but I saw the same book posted with a different ISBN that is a "value edition".  So long as it's not a shortened version of the novel, I'm good with that.  Thanks guys!  I'm a newbie here and am already addicted!!
