Just finished the VAmpire Academy Series and I LOVED it! I was totally fine with the ending, however I can't wait for the new series to come out. :)  Just wanted to know if anyone else kind of wished Rose and Adrian ended up together? I was rooting for them.  I mean I knew Rose would end up with Dimitri but that didn't stop me from wishing lol  So who else was rooting for Adrian???

No, I was rooting for Dimitri all the way!  I liked Adrian, but I never thought he would be good for Rose long term.

Or that Rose would be good for Adrian, Jenna.  At the beginning of their relationship I as all for them, but it really did get to the point where she was a crutch for him.  He's my favorite character in the whole series, so I was really unhappy that his loose ends didn't get tied, but I am really glad he gets to be in another series.  Maybe he'll end up with Sydney!

I agree that Rose was not  enough for him.  I think he needs someone he is going to have to take care of and be strong for, someone he will want to straighten up his life for.  I think Sydney might be too strong for him.  Maybe his love is someone we don't know yet.  I just really hope it's not Jill!  I really like Adrian's character and am glad he is going to be in the next series.

I thought it would be too much for Rose to be in a close relationship with two spirit users.  Too emotionally draining.  Plus I didn't like that Rose had "rules" for Adrian about excessive drinking and smoking, but it wasn't really what he wanted since he did those things when she wasn't around.  That's not exactly a strong foundation for a relationship.  Plus it was Dimitri, the guy she's loved since the beginning!

I'd like to see Adrian and Sydney together.  I think they could be interesting. :)  Definitely not Adrian and Jill - she'll like a little sister to him.

So after thinking about it some more and an insightful talk with my bff where she told me "You only think she should be with Adrian because that is who YOU would pick" and i have to admit she is totally right lol :)

I also agree, I didn't like that she had rules for him.  So final decision- Dimitri and Rose    Adrian and ??????

I concur on the "anyone but Jill" campaign.  There really are some family vibes between them.  It would be so weird if they got together.  I'm also really surprised there are so many people out here who love Adrian.  Everyone in my book group considered him as little more than a seat warmer for Dimitri.

On a side note, does anyone read the Succubus series?  I have kind of always loved Succubus just a little bit more than VA, but so far the two series have followed a pattern.  Like in book 3 something terribly sad happens but book 4 gave Rose and Georgina hope.  Anyone want to take a guess at how Succubus ends?

I loved the ending of this series! I think it ended on the perfect note considering the new series that will be coming. I was glad that we got back Rose and Dimitri. While Rose and Adrian had their cute moments, I always thought it wasn't the best match. I do think how Dimitri went from his present state of being consumed by guilt and not wanting Rose to see him to being able to confess his love again for Rose was a bit rushed. I wish that would have started building up a bit earlier and that there would have been some dialogue about what happened between them in Siberia.

I also really hope that we don't see Adrian and Jill together but it wouldn't surprise me if it happened.

I haven't read the Succubus series but will definitely be looking into it! I can't wait for the next series and will be picking up my book the day it is released!

More info on Bloodlines, including a video of Richelle Mead talking about how Sydney differs from Rose.  Here

I'm late to this discussion bc I've been off the site for a while, but I LOVED the way the series ended.  I do kind of hope that Adrian and Jill end up together.  Remember that she is still very young; I believe that she won't see Adrian, even at Court, until she's older and grown into her beauty.  (Remember that it was said that Lissa's best action would be to keep Jill alive but away from Court.)  I think she is motivated enough to "rub off" onto Adrian and make him WANT to give up the alcohol.  Since she believes in the Moroi fighting, I think she'll convince him through her actions (maybe she'll save him? that would be cool) that he is an invaluable resource bc of his Spirit ability.

Harry Potter and Vampire Academy are, hands down, my all-time favorite series.  If I were stranded on an island with just those books, I think I'd be happy, lol.

We'll see where she goes with that.  I just think she spent so much time making Jill feel like a sister that to give him feelings for her would just contradict that whole storyline in the first series with Jill as Jailbait.

Aside from that, I really hope she brings the Keepers into the new series.  I really liked where that was going.

I thought the new series was all about the Keepers, but now I don't know where I got that idea.......  I had the idea it was set in a Keeper high school, as opposed to the Vampire school that started this series.

I agree, I really loved how much time was spent with Sydney in the last book.  I was already fascinated by the idea of a group that's a "go-between," that knows the truth and will go to extreme measures to prevent normal humans from finding out that vampires exist.  I'm so excited to find out what's going on with Sydney and that guy who is crushing on her......

And what she talks about in that video, that Sydney has to overcome her timidity and learn to stand up for herself, hits VERY close to home with me, so I'm excited about that too.  Rose's confidence was awesome, but it also got her into a lot of trouble she could have avoided....

Plus my birthday is Aug. 24, so you can guess what I'll be asking for!!  (The release date is the 23rd)

Awesome birthday present!  I would love a whole book set in the Keepers' world!  It reminds me of an angry hippie commune (which I mean as a good thing).  Rose is a great character but I do think Sydney would be fun too.  One thing I like in my YA main characters is that they're good role models like Jessica in Jessica's Guide.  I'm not saying the main character has to be a good role model, but it's really good if she is.  I really think Sydney is an admirable character

Just finished the "Vampire Academy" series this week.  I thought everything was wrapped up pretty well.  I wasn't surprised she ended up with Dimitri.  I am upset that Rose would use well-meaning Adrian like she did.

I'm stoked for the "Bloodlines" books, which will center around Sydney as the main character!
