I've read Twilight a coutless number of times.

I've read Blue Bloods and that turned out to be horrible.

I've also read Vampire Academy and Dracula in London.

I really need a good vampire book!!!  Any suggestions?

I also liked the Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine.  The first book is Glass Houses.

I didn't like House of Night, the Vampire Diairies, or Vampire Kisses.

I liked the House of Night books. It was a different take on vampires for sure but it was different.

Not sure how much romance you want but there are several very good vampire series out there.

Authors that I like are Katie MaCallister, Mary Janice Davidson, Michelle Bardsley, Katie Maxwell(actually Katie MaCallister).

You don't say that you've read the whole Twilight series, tho I assume you have.

I also like Lynsay Sands , Christine Feehan, Laurell K. Hamilton tho none would be considered YA

I'm currently reading Sunshine by Robin McKinley, which is a vampire story written for adults but that appeals to young adults because the female protagonist's voice is very friendly and kind of wry--she narrates in a very diary-like manner. I'm about a third of the way through, it's pretty good, I'd recommend you give it a go. I feel like a lot of the problems with YA vampire novels is that some of them are, well, not very well written, with flat characters and unbelievable vampires.

Whew! Guess I wrote a wee bit much in that section. I just looked through my library and here are several other vampire books that I enjoyed:

The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause - Shy teenage girl unexpectedly befriends a vampire who's out to avenge the death of his mother on the vampire who killed her.
City of Ashes and City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - The Mortal Instruments series is not TOTALLY about vampires, but they're involved. Plus, one of the leading males reminds me a lot of Edward Cullen. :)

Happy reading!

Darren Shan's Cirque Du Freak is a great YA vampire series.  It's a 12 book series and you really do need to read it in order, but it's well worth it.

I just ordered the Silver Kiss. (Thanks -Stephanie S.)  I have been reading the Charlaine Harris - Sookie Stackhouse series.  It is an easy read, and I have really liked it.  It is kind of hard to come by, so you might want to get on the waiting list.  I am not sure how YA these are, but I don't like graphic romance and these did not bother me.  I don't think I would let my 13 year old read them though.

I read your inquest about vampire books and Blue Bloods in particular.  I've done searches for a series about a family whose blood was blue.  I think the author was de la Cruz but not sure.  Can you tell me if this sounds like the Blue Bloods you read?  I haven't been able to find any search results because, unfortunately, I don't have much info.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

While it seems like your looking for romantic or more female oriented vampire fiction I will still give a shout out to the Cirque du Freak series by Darren Shan.

Otherwise I'd suggest Charlain Harris's books, Sonja Blue series by Nancy Collins, and Those Who Hunt the Night by Barbara Hambly.

For more YA series, try "Evernight" and "Stargazer" (in that order) by Claudia Gray.

I agree that the Vampire Diaries would be a good follow-up series to twilight.

I didn't really like the Vampire Academy series, HUGE fan of the House of night series, Uninvited by Amanda Marrone, Always been a fan of the Last Vampire series by Christopher pike and I think they are re-releasing the books in an omnibus like they did with L.J. Smith's Vampire diaries,

(the following are not vampire novels, but are paranormal YA) The Darkest Powers series by Kelley Armstrong , The Wake series by Lisa McCarnn , The Wicked series by Nancy Holder and the Wicked Lovely series

In non-YA book series I like:

The Blood-tie series by Jennifer Armintroud (first book "the turning")

The Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost (first book "Halfway to the Grave") [LOVE LOVE LOVE this series!]

The Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris (first book "dead until dark")

I kind of went on a reading splurge after getting into Twilight. As you can tell....:D

I just read "Jessica's Guide for Dating on the Dark Side" by Beth Fantaskey and it was great. The story is so original and it keeps you guessing until the very end. The name of the book is awful but the books is a great read. I couldn't put it down.

the evernight books by claudia grey.  I also am right now reading the house of night series and adore it cant put it down!

** I however hated the book Evermore it is the first book to the immortals series.  The woman at the book store told me it was all about vampires, and was the next twilight! I hated it, it was horrible! I read it in hawaii and couldnt wait to get rid of it.  Maybe it was just me but it sucked!

well good luck :)  sorry about the above venting! I cant wait to check out the books everyone has posted!
