I actually haven't seen any previews or anything, but I know that Ian Somerhalder is in it, so I may have to give it a shot. He's yummy.

Ian is the bad brother.  This series is based on a YA series by L J Smith.  From the 1990's.

I watched it last night.  It was okay...reserving judgement for now.  Certainly isn't Buffy!  ;(

I DVR'd it last night, will watch it over the weekend sometime.  I've got a couple of the books, but haven't had a chance to read them yet.  I'm hoping the show turns out to be decent.

I missed it last night, but have dvr ready to record it tonight. They are re-airing the pilot from last night again tonight, same time. Looking forward to it. I dont watch tv but am hopeful it is decent. I used to be in love with this series when I was younger, still waiting on wl for them now to retry them as as adult. =)

I imagine it's not anything like Buffy, the books were nothing like Buffy!

I watched it last night and have to say that it was mediocre at best. However, I will give it another week or two as sometimes series take a while to find their groove.

I watched it, wasn't that impressed either.  My son said it was Twilight wannabee, and my daughter said it wasn't even close to achieving wannabee status.   I will probably watch it again to see if it improves also.

I wasn't really impressed w/ Twlight the movie so I actually liked this show MUCH better.  Of course my daughter loved Twlight (the movie) so maybe it's a teen thing.

It's funny that someone would say this is a Twilight rip-off because the books came out LONG before Twilight, try 14 years before. I was still in high school when I read them and I'm 34 now. Needless to say, I liked the angsty, teen cheesiness better than Twilight, but then again, I like vampires of the non-sparkly variety.

I can see the potential. It only having one episode, makes it hard to judge. I've not read the series either, so I won't have that in my way (although it isn't in my way for True Blood and I love those books!)

I read a post on Facebook by  Candace Haven (the writer) and she said to give this series a chance it gets better after the first episode because it does get very untwilight!!!  And CW says it was the most watched series premier ever!!!  But I did enjoy the first episode!!!

I was able to finally watch it when the pilot was repeated. I actually liked it.

I'm not sure I saw the connection at all between the pilot and Twilight. Yes, vampires. Yes, teens. Yes, vampire behaviour. End of similarities.

I usually work till 8 on Thursday so as long as CW does its typical and shows it on Sat/Sun/Mon then I'll be able to watch it regularly.

As long as it doesn't interupt Three Rivers and my viewing of Alex O'Laughlin! lol

Ok there isn't really a twilight comparison i've read twilight there are a lot of difference here so far.  And if  you find it similar than twilight is vampire diariesish since it was out first.  Stephenie meyer has been accused of copying her stuff from several authors but still says she took it out of a dream and that she didn't ever read paranormal books.  Oh well it doesn't matter since i enjoyed reading twilight i had to draw the line at breaking dawn though.

Also i watched both episoeds of the Vampire Diaries and so far i think its ok.  Its up to standards for the CW it is more of a teen channel so you have to take that into account.  They look for showes that would interest people from 15 - 26 age area, so there are going to be some things that older viewers might find beneth them.  It is what it is though a time filler that mildly entertains, it filled an empty time slot for me and i enjoyed it so i'll keep watching it.

I haven't read the books, either, but so far, the TV series seems OK. It kept my interest, anyway. As a Twilight fan, I don't see too many comparisons, but the vampire hero does resemble the movie version of Edward just a bit too much.

I don't see any likness to Edward in Stefan. I actually like Stefan a lot better.

Thank you AshsHeroine.  I totally agree with this point.  Stefan is so much better looking the Edward.  I really liked the twilight books until they made the movie and now not so much.  I thought that through out the whole movie Edward looked like he was constipated.  He kept making funny faces I would have never imagined edward making.  But really there is no question who is the better looking actor.

I really like the series so far.

I don't see anything that's like Twilight aside from Vampires & a love triangle. Atleast the Vamps have an excuse as to why they can go into daylight on this show.

I watched the first 2 episodes and then read the omnibus of the first 2 stories. I'm hooked now. I HAVE to see if they follow the story line!! OMGoodness! VERY unlike Twilight, although I loved it, too. I think I just love all things Vampire! LOL

Now I've got to get my hands on the 2nd omnibus!! Or at least just the 3rd book!! LOL  I'm dying to know what happens!
