Any vampire recommendations?  I just finished Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (thanks to my 12  year old) and am suddenly in the mood for vampires.  This book had no sex but was extremely romantic and I would highly recommend it.  But I'm looking to sink my teeth into something more...........no pun intended ;)

Have you read Lara Adrian or JR Ward?  They both have series out that involve vamps.

Also Alexandra Ivy has a series with vamps.  Jaqueline Frank also has a paranormal series that I like - not just vamps though.

Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter Series

Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse series (humorous vampires)

I love the Charlaine Harris Sookei Stackhouse series. but there's not a lot of romance and almost no sex- it's mainly a mystery series. I adore the J.R. Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood series (starts with Dark Lover), it has a lot of hot sex but also great character deveopment and those vampire dudes are so sexy...

if you want hot sexy vampires, go for JR Ward.  i've read at least something from all but 3 of the authors/series mentioned so far, and the other 3 are on my TBR pile.  i read more paranormal romance than any other kind of romance.

Lara Adrian, Alexandra Ivy, and Jaqueline Frank are the ones i haven't read yet, but they look good.

the Anita Blake series - at least at first - is not primarily romance.  excellent series though.

of the romance ones previously mentioned, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Lynsay Sands would probably go after JR Ward for me.

i also highly recommend Kresley Cole's A Hunger Like No Other, from the Immortals After Dark series!    i've only read the first one, but i immediately started trying to get the next two (got them now!), and books 4 and 5 come out in april and may.  Angela Knight's 'Master' series is also very good.

ooo I love the Twilight trilogy!  i was so obsessed with it, i read the whole series twice in a row. lol

you might also enjoy Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series

totally irreverant and funny are the Queen Betsy books by Mary Janice Davidson

they're not technically vampires - but I love love love the dark-hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon

the Black Dagger Brotherhood books are also really popular, but I'm not in love with them.

The first vampire romance that I ever read that totally hooked me and got me into paranormal romances was Christine Feehan's Dark Prince.  It is the first book in the Dark series that is now comprised of about a zillion books.  I've quit reading it because there are only so many variations on the same theme I can read before I start to lose interest.  But, oh, those early books when it was all new and it was so intense.  All that power totally focused on cherishing "the one" now that he has found her after so long.  Oh, yeah.  In my opinion, of the earliest 8 or 9 books Dark Prince and Dark Guardian were absolutely the best.  I still reread them and kept the first 8.  And the opening scene in Dark Guardian where Lucien and his twin, Gabriel come striding out of the mist.  Still speeds my pulse up, LOL.

I read the books as I found them, not in order, and I understood what was going on just fine.  If possible, it would be nice to read Dark Prince first, but not necessary.

I have to chime in on the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J R Ward. Her writing draws you in unbelievably. Don't let the names or some of the terminology and slang color your opinion, they are a hot group of vamps and their stories are addictive. Also I have really enjoyed Lara Adrian's books. Her storyline is very similar to Ward's but her writing enables her to carry it off without it feeling like a ripoff. Good series!

Regarding the Black Dagger Brotherhood - I love the character development among the brothers.  Their relationships really are the glue that holds the stories together.  I don't think she does as good of a job on the heroines though.  But the brothers are hot!

Wow -- thanks.  That's just the info I needed.  I remember doing the first Sookie Stackhouse book and enjoying it, but feeling no need to go on to the next one at all.  The romance was teasing, and the sex non-existant.  It sounds like I should give JR Ward a shot first.

But believe me when I say it, Twilight is addictingly romantic.................

I have to chime in and agree on JR Ward - I can't say enough about how great those books are.  Her books are my favorite about vamps so far.  Right now I'm reading Kerrlyn Sparks' series and they're good reads too.  I also like a lot of the others that have already been mentioned.

i don't care for JR Ward's or Kenyon's books, but I love Harris' Sookie Stackhouse Series and Cole's Immortals After Dark Series. I've also started reading Feehan's Dark Series, and that is pretty good too.

Susan Squires' Companion series is good and Susan Sizemore's Primes series.  I also like Feehan's and Kenyon's.

Monica have you read New Moon and Eclipse yet? Part two and three of Twilight? If not those should be the first on your list! Part four will be released on August 2nd!

Aimee -- I'm in the middle of New Moon right now and I'm so depressed.  It's not as riveting as Twilight (I guess because Edward is absent) but I will keep going because I know he has to come back again.  He just has to!!

August seems so far away!  I haven't been this ridiculously addicted to a character in ages :)
