I thought it was very long winded, the love story was just a void, had some great sex scenes, but the story itself just lost my interest, the ending itself was interesting enough that I am willing to read the next book just to see what happens

First vampire book by this author. Has a strange technique of switching between point of views of different male characters for most of the book. Not a seductive book, kind of gross vampires - more like Anne Rice with dark/stinky/morose vampires. Interesting book, with some unique plot lines, but I was not drawn into the story as much as expected. Was confused where the book was going, and no so happy when it set itself up for sequels as I would have preferred the book just end and get it over with. This is mass market fiction, with more of a horror overtone than a seduction.

Vampire William Cuyler Thorne is a 500-year-old socialite living in contemporary Savannah, Ga. Passing himself off as a new family scion each generation since the Revolutionary War, William has acquired substantial wealth, social stature and a co-conspirator in Eleanor, a high-class madam who supplies women to satiate his bloodlust. Despite his savagery and anger issues, William isn't such a bad guy: his victims are all willing, he sponsors charity events, and he's even got a good-ol'-boy buddy, Jack McShane, a former Confederate soldier whom William turned into a bloodsucker. Life is good for the trio until the sadistic Reedrek, William's vampiric sire, shows up to make William pay for centuries of defiance. Luckily, William has his friends and voodoo princess Melaphia on his side—but can he retain their loyalty when the powerful Reedrek seeks to turn their allegiance?

An interesting mix of vampirism and voodoo, set in the south, Savannah GA. The vampires are vampires and have no issues with who they are,(some current books are way too reflective) and have values. There are two main characters, one William is an old European vamp, the other Jack is a Nascar loving southern man. Each has dark shadows form their previous human lives. They are both sexual and lusty and show respect women. Everything seems good for them until William's sadistic sire Reedrek shows up. A voodoo princess and her descendants have pledged their loyalty to William and his line, now can they work together to end Reedrek's plan's ?
For a first novel this was very well done and a real page turner. I am stating the second now, I just couldn't wait... good story telling
