A very funny book. Published in 1942. Based on the premise that the principle characters of the books invite various famous people over for dinner and what takes place, thereafter. Mozart brings his dog. There is usually more than one guest present so part of the humor comes from how the characters interact with one another, in that they come from different eras, continents and the like. Some of the guests include: George Washington, Sir Thomas More, Bach, Cervantes, Shakespeare, Moliere, Queen Elizabeth, Robespierre, Torquemada, (Buddha sent regrets), St. Francis, Mozart, Napoleon, Beethoven, Plato, Confucius,Peter the Great, Dante, DaVinci, Emily Dickinson, Chopin, Ben Franklin, DeVeer, Thomas Jefferson and MANY others.
Also included are replications of pen and ink drawings of characters, some of which have been water colored. Exquisite!
