I read the book  "Vanishing Acts of Esme Lennox"  by Maggie O' Farrell recently and I cannot stop thinking about it. It is a fabulous book! I highly recommend it. Mine is a keeper as I plan to recommend it to my book club when I host it in a few months. It would be a wonderful book to discuss.  This is the first book that I've read by this author and I plan to read her others.  Has anyone else read this gem of a book and care to discuss it?

It's in my TBR pile, but I haven't read it yet Bonnie.  Glad to hear it was good, though!

I just finished it and really liked it. Without spoiling anything, it got very un-put-down-able at the end. The actual ending rather floored me! Kind of sad, but gripping.

Okay, I just finished it.  Wow!  I found the author's writing style distracting at times but the story was very good, and the idea of what Esme went through was just horrifying.  The ending has me thinking.  Certainly don't want to give anything away, but I will say that it's worth the read.

Unusual for me, but I liked this book so well that I mailed to my sister.  She also loved it.

I actually bought this new because I had heard good reviews. It is not a feel good story but it is definitely gripping and very well written. I could not put it down and was shocked at the ending.

I am heading to the library right after work to get this book!    It sounds wonderful.

One question, though....How would you pronounce the name Esme?   Ez-mee or Ez-may?    It bothers me not to know how to pronounce names and I always have to know these things before I commit. LOL!

I'm about halfway through this book and it really is addictive.  I feel so sorry for poor Esme.   That girl didn't have a chance from the word jump. :(

I am pronouncing her name "Ez-mee", based on her ayah calling her "Is-Me".    I think it's a beautiful name. :)

I found this book on barnes&noble.com in the bargain books for $3.98 after reading this post. I ordered it and it came yesterday. I am very anxious to get started on it but I need to finish up Riding Lessons by Sara Gruen before I do that.

I ordered this book through our library system and it just arrived this morning. I'd love to start reading right now, but my puppies are wild.... I'll have to wait until they take a nice, long nap!

Wow! This book was excellent! I will recommend it to anyone! This will be a keeper for me, even though I got it from the library it is now on my WL.

This book had a special meaning for me, because my great grandmother disappeared about 1925 at about 38 years old. No one has ever known what happened to her, but I have my suspicions that she may have been committed, and so I began the search 3 years ago to find her. I have a feeling she wasn't a "compliant" woman back then....
