Excellent of its kind. A fore-runner to the Jan Karon sort of story. A small English village and its everyday life and people, set in post WWII. Miss Read has written dozens of books about the simple life of a small village. The people are warm and real, and the author is kind to them all. Miss Read was a very popular author at one time...the books are slight treasures and a treat to read.
