I love all books by Barbara Delinsky. This was a great one! Great characters and great growth of the characters. Couldn't put it down. A woman who owns a vineyard is marrying the man who runs the vineyard, 6 months after her husband dies. She hires a young woman to write her memoirs, so she can connect with her children who are appalled at her getting married so soon and "beneath" her. Great ending!!
A Vineyard family has issues with its matriarch's planned marriage to one of her employees six months after her husband's death. The story has her dictating her lifestory... starting with her riches to rags childhood in 1929-30 onto present day, exploring her heartbreaking losses and varied challenges. Against the background of a working coastal Rhode Island Vineyard, we see 3 generations react to individual and family problems. There's the dyslexic child, the struggling single Mom, a middle-aged unfulfilled daughter, the workaholic son, the vineyard manager with a tragic past, a long-held family secret and even a category 3 hurricane. The author weaves their stories together in an enjoyable journey. I recommend it for a light read.
Lovely Delinsky novel with a different Rhode Island vineyard setting. All the elements for several good romances with family histories and dynamics involved. Really enjoy Barbara Delinsky's books and this was no exception.
When I first started reading Delinsky, I read as many as I could get my hand on. This one is absolutely one of my favorites. I adored the characters, loved the setting & it has a rich, juicy plot that makes every one of the 488 pages a pleasure to read!
Although I usually prefer mysteries/thrillers, I found this romance novel to be pleasing and enjoyable. The reader was quite good. I liked the characters and the resolution. A pleasant treat for my daily commute.
even though the main character got on my nerves a bit with all her imagining, i could see where she was coming from. barbara delinsky is so great at writing emotions and telling about the characters of her books. i could actually feel her emotions for her daughter and the pain she felt when her daughter struggled. great book!
I'm really loving listening to this story! A great reader who brings the characters to life and a nicely woven tale with characters you can embrace and identify with. I wasn't familiar with this author but listening to "The Vineyard" makes me want to hear more of her work.
I loved the history, romance, mystery, and drama. There was so much detail in the description of this vineyard that you could smell the air and feel the vines. I love the emotion. I will definitely read more by this author.

Olivia Jones is a dreamer, living vicariously through the old photographs she restores. She and her daughter, Tess, cling to the fantasy that a big happy family is out there just waiting for them. When Natalie hires Olivia to help with her memoir, a summer at Natalie's vineyard by the sea seems the perfect opportunity to live out that fantasy. But all is not as it seems.
As the illusion of an idyllic exixtence comes crashing headlong into reality, the lives of these two woman, parallel in so many ways, become a powerful and moving story.
