I kept hearing about them and the Grace Valley books around here so I ordered the first one from here and loved it. I ran out to the bookstore and picked up the rest of the series it was that good! I don't normally go for the contemporary romances  but I really really enjoyed how the story was told and all the secondary characters. I can't wait to read the next one. The book store didn't have the Grace Valley series  in stock so I might have to see if they can order it. I am so happy I have found a contemporary that I like because historicals seem to run together after a while, this will be a great break from Dukes and simpering misses and the ton.

I really liked this series too -- A girlfriend loaned them to me and I had them for ages and finally read them. Couldn't believe how much I liked them -- I had to get a set of my own for keepers. But of course -- I keep loaning them out to make new converts!!!

Have you read her Virgin River series?  Its set in the next town over from Grace Valley and a few of the characters do appear in the books.  VERY good!

I've read the 3 Grace Valley books and while they're good they don't read at all like the Virgin River books. One romance carries over all 3 books and it's not emphasized. To me they felt sorta like the Mitford series by Jan Karon if anyone's read those - only with my heartache and subtle humor. I'm glad I read them but there were a lot of characters to keep straight and they weren't 'spicy' like the Virgin River ones..they seemed to drag a bit and seeme dmore 'old fashioned'. It took me a while to get through those and the 3rd one is hard to find but I think it's being reprinted this fall...you wont' be lost if you dont' read them first but you do get the background for Jim and the 2 doctors that show up in the Virgin River books several times.

I love John in the 2nd book..I'd love to have him! :-)

I loved the Virgin River series also and am in the process of getting the Grace Valley books through the system here. I need 1 more, can't remember which one.

I am just now reading the Second book Shelter Mountain. Wow John "Preacher" is my kinda man too. wowza.I admit I was kinda teary eyed a couple times in this second book. The stories are sooo good. In this one there is 4 stories going on Jack and Mel from  the first book continues and Liz and Rick have a story going on in the background and the Main story is about Preacher and Paige with a little set up with Mike for the next story...which is whispering rock.

I was wondering about the Grace Valley books. The whole story is basically in 3 separaate books? hmm I might  not like that after all.

I enjoyed the Virgin River books much more than I did the Grace Valley books. The Grace Valley books weren't bad but they were kind of bland stories compared to the Virgin River books.

Preacher is a favorite of mine too!

yep, the romance betwee the female doctor and the DEA agent goe sthrough 3 books in the Grace Valley books and the humor is more subtle..there's a lot of drama going on. I emailed her and in one I  mentioned they reminded me a bit of the Mitford books (which I liked by the way!) and in her reply she sorta acknowledged that but they were more dramatic or something to that effect. they're not as 'sweet'..in one there was quite a bit of stuff going on (the 2nd I think) then in the 3rd there was even more stuff..I think she described the Virgin River books as 'edgier and sexier' and they definitely are. thre's still drama in them but the grace valley ones just seemed 'older' in a way.
