The stories in the V-Series books by author Jane Feather are disturbing to say the least. The lead male character in each book has been abused mentally, emotionally and/or physically in their youth by a family member. Then they have grown into emotionally disabled adults due to their sordid upbringing. The female lead characters in each book are peculiar and immature girls who are swift to give up their virginity to âfixâ the tortured, much older male. The plots were filled with villainy and hateful acts that are described in such detail that at times, it was very uncomfortable to read. If you like dark romance then Jane Feather is the author for you. For me? No thanks!

Lovely historical details of society and married life interwoven into a story of high stakes gambling, con artistry, and lush romance.

From Library Journal
In this novel by historical romance writer Feather ( The Eagle and the Dove, Avon, 1991; Brazen Whispers , Avon, 1990), skilled gamesters Judith Davenport and her brother, Sebastian, live to take revenge on the man who ruined their father. Their plan is endangered when Judith becomes involved with Marcus, Lord Carrington. Forced into marriage after one night of passion on the eve of Waterloo, Marcus considers Judith an adventuress, but he is determined to curb her gaming and make her into a respectable wife. Judith will not give up her plan of revenge but walks a fine line between achieving her goal and losing her love. The outcome is evident early in the story, but the characters and the Regency setting are competently handled. Fans of more sensuous romances will appreciate this Loveswept offering.
