Two hundred and fifty men, women and children sailed across the stormy sea in two small ships to face the unknown. What should they take with them with space so limited? What would they find in a new land they had only heard stories about? What dangers awaited them from wild animals and the natives they would encounter? They had left without a charter from the king who would neither finance them nor protect them from enemies. They relied on the encouragement of their leaders, Reverend John Davenport and Theophilus Eaton, and their faith in God. After a brief and disappointing stay in Massachusetts they set sail to a place called Quinnipiac, which they later renamed New Haven. They were very disappointed when they saw what was to be their new home. This is their story.« less
