I enjoyed this book but skimmed through the first two chapters quickly because I read this book after reading Phenomenon which has just about everything in the first two chapters of this book word for word throughout Phenomenon. Throughout this book there are stories that were submitted to Sylvia by her readers and she responds to the experiences and offers information on each of the hauntings. I really enjoyed the chapter dealing with celebrity ghost stories and here experiences when visiting some of the homes of deceased celebrities. A fun read on hautings and visitations from spirits and ghosts.

I found this book fascinating. However, it is suggested that one take anything from any purported "psychic" with a grain of salt. I liked the book well enough to research Sylvia Browne in depth, and it seems that she is, while not one of the world's greatest psychics, one of the world's greatest frauds. stopsylviabrowne.com has testimonials from many people who have done business with her, and where she isn't merely inaccurate, it seems that she manufactures her ideas out of whole cloth.

That said, the book was fascinating (if, as I suspect, made up), and her ideas about the afterlife and the spirit world are ideas that many people, including myself, would find comforting. It's a really great read for spiritual comfort and interest in the spirit world / world of the paranormal. Just don't get suckered in by Sylvia Browne herself.

I have read most of Sylvia's books. This one was not her usual reiteration of her life story and Francine. She really goes into depth about ghosts. If you are interested in ghost stories and "celebrity" ghosts, this is a Must read. I lived in the same area of No. Calif. where she lives and visited various hauntings. Because Ive been to the sites and restaurants that she describes, it was very exciting to read her take on places in the Bay area that Ive heard of all my life.

This book was fun to read! I especially enjoyed the part about the Black Dahlia murder and about Marilyn Monroe and Jimi Hendrix.

In Visits from the afterlife, Browne journeys even deeper into The Other Side, detailing stirring true encounters of visitations with ghosts, in-transition spirits, and other troubled souls seeking peace and closure. She travels to locations as diverse as haunted homes and ships possessed by otherworldly forces. Through these spiritual visits, she explains the reasons behind many of the world's most bizarre and mysterious hauntings, and she shares her own personal, face-to-face experiences with these inexplicable phenomena. From surprising revelations about the spirit world to emotional reunions with those who have moved one, Visits From the Afterlife once agains illustrates their profound and eternal influence on our earthly lives.
