This was my first foray into Sister Joan's world, and it was all right. I kept turning the pages, but "utterly gripping" this story was not. Later, I'll try another; this storyline has possibilities, but this one could have been better.

A very intriguing story of the mind of a young woman who adores her older sister, or maybe is over envious of her. Sister Joan is caught up in the search for truth after she finds a body and a young woman comes to her for help in finding her missing sister. The ending is chilling.

A very quick read by a competent writer, but not compelling in structure or writing style. Characters are not well developed, thus pushing the reader to the edge of "suspension of disbelief." I found the ending to be unsatisfactory in that it was cheapened by introducing an unlikely element that, prior to the ending, had been neither hinted at nor introduced. It was an easy way out for the author. This one volume ensured the Sister Joan series will not end up on my "to read" list.
