Kirk, SpocK and McCoy got back to Vulcan to help a critically ill crewmember and get embroiled in what is possibly the last thing you would expect to find on Vulcan: murder.
Kirk uses detective skills to solve the mystery. The end. (ho-hum!)
The mystery is not very mysterious and I had it figured out by page 42. Other than that, the novel has a very nice and interesting cast of characters and is littered with all kinds of references to Vulcan society and culture. Although telepathy is something Sci-Fi authors tend to overuse, here is a society that has had it since its inception, thus it use is to be expected. I particularly liked the desert predators.
It shows that this author has a soft spot in her heart for Vulcans and has done her homework.
Kudos!
