Today I posted a book from my bookshelf that had a Wa next to it. But now that it has been posted, it appears not to be a wishlisted book any longer. This has been happening a lot to me recently. Is there some setting that I can change? I notice this on both my laptop at home and my PC at work. I know it's not a big deal, the books get requested eventually and I no longer make my choice of what to read based on the W or Wa. But how do I go about updating the status of the books on my hold shelf?

Check your Bookshelf -- does the book have a gray exclamation point off to the side? If it does, then it's just waiting for the buyer's remorse period (1 hour or so?) to expire before it sends the request to you.

It also could be that the requestor canceled quickly. If people have few credits, they may be deciding on a daily basis whether they really want any particular book.

I tend to keep my WL cleaned out so that I know I want it if it shows up. But I have credits to spare so wouldn't have to chose between them.

But how do I go about updating the status of the books on my hold shelf?

I'm not sure what you're wanting to do, here.

It's not either of those things. For example, right now on my posted bookshelf I have a copy of Balogh's Precious Jewel. I also have a copy on my hold shelf of the same book and it has a Wa next to it. I know it's not accurate because it's identical to the posted book on my own shelf and nobody is asking for that.

I "unheld" a copy of The Elusive Bride by Laurens this morning. It also had the green Wa next to it but I see there are 14 copies in the system. So while it was on my hold shelf the W and Wa have been all filled, extra copies in the system but somehow my shelf didn't or doesn't update. So my question is how do I "update" my shelf so that if I see a book is wishlisted I can be reasonable sure it really is? Or is there not a way to do this?

I never look at the W or Wa. I go to the actual book's page ot see if it's on WL. I would think that would be most accurate.

For example, right now on my posted bookshelf I have a copy of Balogh's Precious Jewel. I also have a copy on my hold shelf of the same book and it has a Wa next to it.

Someone with more books listed will have to check this, but I just added a book to my bookshelf and put it on 'hold', then added it again. The system won't let me have the book on the same shelf twice. It just 'unholds' the first book, doesn't add a second.

So I don't think you should be see two of the same book on your bookshelf, held or unheld, unless they have different ISBN numbers. Are you sure the ISBN's are exactly the same?

Or could you mean another shelf? The "Hold" is part of your bookshelf, so isn't a seperate shelf to have your books on.

Otherwise, there's the WL, Reminder List, TBR list and "Books I've Read" shelves. You're not talking about one of them, right?

There is obviously a glitch on your shelf because Cindy is correct, you cannot have the same book (as in same ISBN) on your shelf twice. If its on Hold its there on Hold, if its not on Hold, its there posted, it cannot be both.

It sounds like your computer is storing old pages that you are seeing, not refreshed stuff (they do this to be faster). Try clearing out all of your cookies and then logging back into PBS and looking at your shelf.

There is a computer glitch that can hold a Wa after it is gone. I haven't figured out why, guessing it has to do with Holds on WLs and Bookshelves, but I have seen it on more than one occassion.  If, after you've cleared all the old cookies off of you machine, you still see the Wa on the list but see the Order this Book button when you go to the book details page, then send in feedback and let them know that the Wa indicater seems to be stuck on the book.

Ok, I'm am on 4 different computers and they all do this. I'm wondering if the 2 books- and yes they are identical, are there because I received both of them through PBS? I ordered the same book twice. Go figure? When I click on the held book, it says I can not post more than 1 copy. Which I knew, but I assume it's on my shelf because when I received it I said yes, put it on my shelf.

Off to delete cookies, etc and see if that helps.

Cleared cookies, history, everything I could think of and it still shows. It's not really important, I don't really use it to decide what to read next. Thanks for the help.
