We the people of the United States. Which, "We, the people"? The women were not included

---Lucy Stone

The ladies in here are all American, but what is more, their pioneers in a predominantly male society, possessing a special courage to persevere in the face of incredible odds. Prior to 1960, the statements of men were widely printed, while the voices of women, if heard at all, were rarely recorded. As literature reflects the attitudes of society, it is distinctly obvious that women were not taken seriously until just recently. The winds of change blew down, but here are some elements of history and thoughts most noteworthy.
