OK, I have seen (and had personally) a WL at 202 at times, b/c I'm VERY vigilant about bumping books in when I get a WL offer so I can add another from my RL. Occasionally these get denied or refused for some reason, and my WL stays at 202 and heads downward with the next offer. How, though, does someone have 245? It's someone who requested a book from me so I went to go check out HIS bookshelf to see if he had anything *I* may want. When I see the little stats box, his WL is at 245! What's the most you've ever seen? Is it REALLY possible he has had 45 requests denied/refused at the EXACT SAME TIME?

Someone reported seeing someone with around 215. I think they might be testing the new WL out with some members. Before they made the printed postage availalbe to everyone they tested it with just some of the members to work the bugs out of it I assume.

I'm at 208, but I have had that unfortunate string of bad luck! I wish that my WL books would be granted as fast!

I saw one at 211 and I had the person's profile in a window that my DH closed so that I can't find it again.  I posted it here.  Wish I could find them again.

I wonder if they are beta-testing the new WL?

Spuddie that's what I think.  They did this with the printed postage and people would have the printed postage user icon before it was available to everyone. There were a lto of posts at the time asking about why can't I use printed postage and where do I use the printed postage.  Well that had made the option to only part of the club to test it out first.  I don't know how you get to be one of those people.  Maybe Tour Guides, charter members and such.

Or maybe it's one of those people that had a huge WL when they first restricted the number to 200. I thought I remembered them letting everyone keep their current WL back then.

I think Samantha is right. The PBSer was kind enough to write me back (I sent him a note asking how he got so lucky) and he says he thinks it's from when PBS allowed the longer lists. He's from 2005, so that makes sense. Ah, to be "grandfathered in"! :-)

I don't think that can be it, though, or we'd still see people with truly huge wish lists.  I know it's been a LONG time, but weren't there emails and posts that if people didn't trim to 200 by X date that the s ystem was going to do it for them?  Now, I admit, I've never come close to even the 200 so it wasn't something I followed really closely at the time....

That is not it....no one was grandfathered in. There were people who had THOUSANDS of books wishlisted who had to cut them down. I had over 300 on my WL when that was implemented and we HAD to  cut it down or they would have done it arbitrarily for us.

Oddly I wonder if it's just a glitch.  I don't think it has anything to do with being grandfathered either....  But I also don't think it is beta-testing...or at least, us TG's haven't been informed of it or asked to be beta testers for it.  Probably just a glitch.

Thanks Cheryl...that at least confirms my cobwebby memory, lol.

Probably just a glitch

A good glitch to have, though, I suppose. ;-)
