I thought this odd.  I posted a wishlist book and it showed the reg. member had 48 hours...blah blah blah.    Well  she accepted but told me she thought it odd because her account has been on hold since June.  She accepted the book, but  I thought it strange as did the other member because we thought if your account was on hold and you were next in line for a WL book it would be bumped to the next member.  Upon returning you will return to the WL position you were in  when you put the account on hold.  She said that other odd things have happened on her account but she did not eloborate and I didn't want to pry.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Is it something I should report or just let it go?

Well, she should probably report it, if she wants to investigate. As long as you are all set with the book in question, I don't see what you would report anyway.

I haven't had any weird things happen in mine ... and mine is pretty active. Many times "weird things" are some kind of user error, anyway. I know, not always ... but mostly, yes :)

Thanks Sarah - it just seemed strange and if she didn't accept I know it would have rolled over to the next member but it is waiting the 48 hrs for each member to accept or letting it roll over  -  I know patience is key - but that is something I lack :)

I think it most likely she had that book on auto request and didn't realize it.

Willa, if the book is auto-requested then it's accepted after the one hour remorse time ends.  Mine are all on auto-request and they just appear on my tab that says books I've requested.  No action by me is necessary.  That would have had to happen for her, too.  Unless - she had no credits at the time...then it would go to the 48 hour hold to give her time to buy credits.

She said she had the credits and was surprised when she went online to see that there was a WL posted for her account so she accepted. She is really on vacation because she was worried about the book not be marked received - but her husband will be home so she said that he will call her when it arrives.   It seemed strange.  I checked her account it is on vacation hold which I am sure she could have turned off and back on.   She has been a member for some time and she seemed pretty saavy.   I was curious if others experience the same thing - was there a procedure when you encountered something like this.....

Jubead--

I wouldn't worry about it.  You've contacted her, she's got the credits and someone is home to mark the book received.  If you're concerned, you might consider spending a bit extra for PBS Delivery Confirmation and/or Printable Postage to "ensure" your credit.

If her account is doing wonky things, that's for her to work out with a Tour Guide and/or the PBS Team.

Cheers,

Catt

Isn't there something in the Help Docs about Vacation Hold not applying to things done after the hold is put in place? But, I don't remember what that refers to, if it's books added to your bookshelf or wishlist. I'll check.

Okay, here we go, from the help center:

If you place a book on your Wish List while a Hold is in effect, that Wish List item will not be hidden by the Hold.

So, she must have added it to her wishlist AFTER going on hold, not on auto-request, so it was treated normally.

It's amazing how many answers to people's 'unusual events' are explained by the Help Center.
