I have a WL book en route to me that is getting close to going lost. The sender used PBS DC, so I can SEE the dang thing in my hometown (well it looks like the van and my dot are in the same spot anyway). It's been there for a week now.

But anyway, this is a WL book. I read the help docs, but I'm still confused. It says I'll go back to my original position on the WL line (so, #1 I'm guessing). But will it put me on hold for 2 weeks like PBS suggests waiting for the lost book to show? Or will it automatically offer me the next one that becomes available?

Additionally, if I do end up accepting another request for this book and the original one shows up will I be charged an additional credit once I mark the lost one received?

Ugh, I'm so bummed. I really want to read this book!

Thanks!

It will offer you the next one that is available. What you can do is when it goes back on your Wish List, put that book on hold, and that way, you can wait for this book to arrive without losing your spot in the Wish List, just in case. And, if you decide that it is never arriving, then you would take it off hold and get the next copy posted.

Additionally, if I do end up accepting another request for this book and the original one shows up will I be charged an additional credit once I mark the lost one received?

Yes. If both copies come, you would have to pay both credits, and you are required to mark the lost one received, as long as it was not mailed less than a week before going lost (AND you have that second copy from PBS).

The map is not an accurate representation of where the book actually is.  Instead of clicking on the checkmark, click the "Details" button above it.  This will show you any scans that have happened.

Oh Jenna, that helps - thank you! I guess the only scan was the original one in her home state. Ok, so there's hope yet. If it had been sitting in my hometown for the past week, I was thinking it got damaged and would go lost. *crossing fingers*

I would put the book on hold (make sure to check other versions and put them on hold) for a few weeks.  Lost books do show up sometimes.

Yes, I too would put it on individual wishlist hold for a couple of weeks to avoid the very next posted copy being offered to you. If the book hasn't turned up by a couple of weeks later, and you really want to get it, activate it again. If you end up getting the first copy later, you can always re-list that copy right away.

Kelly, Electronic Shipping Info Received merely means a DC number has been requested and generated.  By itself is no indication whether or not the book is actually in the mail.  Acceptance and/or Enroute under the details button are indicatiors that USPS actually has the package and it's on the way to you.  If this is the case, and it's still running late you can take the DC number to your local post office and ask if they have any additional information.

I live in a small town. I use PBS postage & DC all the time now. In the past 2 weeks I have had books that I have sent out show nothing but electronic shipping info received for over 7 days. They told me at the PO that they don't scan electronic postage  there because it's such a small PO, and that it may not  get scanned until it actually arrives at it's destination.  I had  mailed one on the 17th, it just showed up today as having arrived in the state it was going to. Still not delivered yet. It about drove me crazy until I talked to them.
