when I look at the members bookshelf to order more from this member, it says her account is closed!   Why hasn't PBS canceled this request and put me back in line for the book.  In the three days I have been hung up by this member, someone else behind me, in line, has received the book.

I could cancel the order and re-wish but that puts me at the back of the pack - 21.   I have been wishing for this book for over a year.

UGH.

Is it possible she posted the book and then put her account on vacation hold? I often do that when I only want to send out a wishlist book or two.

What is the exact message that is displayed when you click on her bookshelf?  As Babs says, it could just be that the sender put the shelf on vacation hold after posting the wishlist book.  I've done that myself...

Wouldn't it say the account is on hold not closed or suspended?

Even so, why post a WL book and then put the account on hold.  Now I am missing my turn to get the book.

There’s a number of reasons someone would post a book and then put their account on hold. I sometimes do it if I’m posting multiple wishlisted books to friend and I don’t want the books to roll over to the next person if for some reason the person I posted them to doesn’t accept them on time. Others do it to control costs (once they’ve used their budgeted postage amount for the month, they put their accounts on vacation hold). Others use it to control the mailing dates so they aren’t running to the post office every day.

But if the other member doesn't accept it within 5 days, it will go to the next person who lists the book or back on your wishlist. The site does have all this figured out. We just need to be patient sometimes, which I know can be hard especially when you've been waiting for a certain book for so long.

Becki - It may be that her account is suspended while PBS is investigating some matter but that the person can still active. If the account is indeed closed and you are still in WL hold, then contact the PBS Team via the Feedback page (http://www.paperbackswap.com/feedback/index.php), explain the situation and ask them to cancel the transaction so you can go back in line.

The person can't be active if the account is suspended, they can't access the account to do anything. But they could be talking to the Team about something during a temporary suspension and the book could be on its way, they just can't mark it as mailed because they can't get into their account while it is suspended.

If you contact the Team via Feedback and they are not aware that the person is sending the book, they may cancel the transaction for you.

If it is just on Hold, well a lot of people will post a Wish List book and put their account right back on Hold. That is how they control postage costs.

There is not guarantee that the book has been posted in the days you have been on Hold. If it is posted that often, the if this copy doesn't come it sounds like it is posted often enough that another will be quickly posted.

Thanks D.G., I'll do that.
