I have a WL book that was posted fifo, I accepted it. I was busy with work, noticed over a day later it was accepted so I went through the members bookshelf and ordered 2 more books. The WL book will time out tomorrow, the others will time out the day after that. If the WL book times out, would  it be ok to cancel the other 2 books? I really wanted the WL, the other 2 were on y reminder and if I could get them altogether, great. If not, then I'd rather save those 2 reminder book credits. Will those 2 books go back on my reminder list if I cancel? Do I get a black mark against me if I cancel the other 2 books?

Thanks!

If you have a button to click that says "Cancel" it's an option that you're free to use.  No black mark, no worry.

Once the sender prints the label  you no longer have the option to cancel.

Did they accept the request for the 2 non-wl books?

I wrote that wrong..it hasn't been accepted, none of them. It's status waiting for member. I meant I accepted the WL book they posted. It was fifo and I was 1 in the line so I got offered it, and I accepted it.

Okay,  that's different if they have not agreed to mail.

The 2 other books you ordered will roll over to other senders, if copies are available.

I myself would cancel the other 2 requests if the wl book times out. If none available the books will likely go on your wl.

This stuff gets messy huh?

This is one of the procedures that doesn't seem to make sense........if we are 'ordering more' just to save the sender postage, why would 2 extra books we added to a WL order automatically go on to FIFO if the original WL order times out?  Seems all those books should go back to original spots they were listed on-- WL or RL.

The site assumes that if you order a book you must want the book. I never order more from a member unless I actually want the other books as much as I want the first one.  It doesn't make sense to me to spend an extra credit that cost me money,  in order to save someone else money on their extra credit. I will almost always look at bookshelves and see if there are more I WANT to order, but I don't order more just to make a bigger order. When I can place an extra order from the same sender, I do, and that's good, but if it all falls thru and the order gets split up to different senders, I don't really care ... and if I did, not much to do about it anyway.

If the requests roll over to another sender(s) you can cancel before they print.  You have to pay careful attention to see if it rolls over, otherwise you will not notice.

I think it's a problem when doing deals that fall thru.  If the sender cancels, your orders go to other members and you don't get the free book(s). You always want to click the pbutton to know who the sender is and supposed to be. Every time I get a wl offer the first thing I do is click that pm button to see who they are.

Ok..why would this person check in, the last 2 days and let a wl book he posted time out? This is the first time I've had that happen . I've had other books that were WL ones that timed out but this is the first that checked in (to my knowledge) and intentionally let it time out.All he had to do was cancel, it's mean to check in and ignore it, esp. When you posted the wl book in the first place.

Obviously IDK where the sender lives, but in South NJ, they had some horrific storms Tuesday--to the point where Verizon service and power service was out for some residents until last night. So if by chance the sender lives in South Jersey, he may have been a victim of that.

Ok..well the books timed out, but now he just re-posted it and guess what, it gets offered to me. Now what? How can a member be allowed to let a book time out, then re-post it right away?
