The last three books I was supposed to get from my WL never arrived.  The system showed them as shipped, but they never showed up and eventually timed out as lost in the mail.  I inquired to the sender for a tracking number since I really want the books, that's why they are on my WL. First sender, of two of the books, said the books were mailed with stamps so no tracking number.  Second sender, of the third book, has not responded to my PMs.

I've also requested just posted books and a few days after I made the request the sender cancelled my request with no explanation.  I PM'ed the last few people who have done this and gotten no reply.  Is this common?  The person had just posted the book so was obviously online, so I don't understand why they would then cancel my request when the book was just posted?

Are other people having these types of problems as well?  All of my recent requests have not shown up, lost in mail, been cancelled by sender or timed out?  It's been several weeks since I've gotten any books despite ordering several.

No problems here. Just got 4 WL books in past 2 weeks as well as 2 ordered to send to daughter at college so used "alternate address" function.

Sounds like you've just gotten a run of bad luck. Hopefully the books mailed with stamps will arrive - sometimes media mail does take a truly long time to circumnavigate the continent (even if it doesn't /need/ to circumnavigate the continent).

The person who listed a wishlsted book and then let the request time out may have had timing issues with getting to the PO, or other personal issues. I know that I usually list a bunch of new books on my bookshelf at once, hoping to make only one run to the PO, and if something doesn't get requested right away and flips over to the next (or next, or next) wisher than sometimes I have to delay the shipment, or let it time out and relist it sometime in the future.

Two of the four missing books finally showed up after timing out and going to LIM.  I marked them received of course. The other two have not shown up and there is not way to track them.  I really wish people would do tracking.

oops, I spoke too soon.  A WL book that was "Waiting for member" just timed out and then a WL book I accepted today just disappeared.  I would guess that neither met my RC, but that's not how the transactions show.

Sometimes a member posts a lot of books not realizing that they are WL books and are overwhelmed when they realize that they have to send out 5 or 6 books when they are not used to getting that many requests at once so they cancel the requests without an explanation. Frustrating to be sure but not a common occurrence in my experience.

The ones that get me are the people who post a book, it is accepted immediately because it was on my WL on auto request and then I get a message from the sender that they can't find the book...wait a minute, you just posted it a few hours ago!? Having said that, the vast majority of transactions go smoothly without issues, so yes, you have just hit a patch of bad luck.

As for tracking, I send out a lot of books and if I used tracking on all of them, it would push my mailing costs to the point that I would not be able to participate anymore.

Sally - that's happened to me too (having a book posted that they then can't find) and what really kills me is that it's happened multiple times in a row. As in, the same person keeps reposting the same unfindable book. I really don't know what that's about, but the last time it happened I looked at the member's profile and they were  brand new to the club. So you just sigh and move on and hope they figure it out eventually...
