My account is on hold on and off here , as we have financial issues. I would like to know if any books on my bookshelf are WL'ed by others, without clicking on each one. Now and then I take my account off of hold to let WL books go. However, one time I did this and there were 25 books. Is there ann easy way to tell? Thanks for any help.

If you rate them (click on the row of stars to indicate your rating), then they'll go onto your Books I've Read list.. When you look at your BIR list, you'll see a red or green W icon. If the next wisher has it on auto-request, the icon is green, otherwise it's red.

You can also put them on your TBR list and see if they're WL or not before unholding your account.

Once you put them on either list you will never have to do it again all you will have to do after that is check on those lists.

Can't you just click on the book title and go to the main information page for the book?  It should show if it's wishlisted there, I would think.  Unless it doesn't work when you click from your bookshelf--mine is never on hold, so I wouldn't have a wishlist book on there to try it.

the nice part about those books being on your BIR or TBR is that you can resort them to WISHLIST and see which are there without doing anything else.

I never created a TBR list, because I didn't understand the value of it. I thought you could only start a tbr list when  receiving a book. How does one create a belated TBR list? Please.

Also, how can one update a topic heading? Please, PBS Gurus!

You update a topic heading by editing your initial post subject.

You start a belated TBR list by going to your TBR list section and clicking the 'Add a Book TBR' button. You'll need all the ISBNs, so you may want to have your bookshelf open in another tab, so you can easily copy and paste. It should actually be pretty fast.

Also, when you receive books through PBS, if you have them added to both your Bookshelf on individual hold, and your TBR List, you'll not only be able to repost the book with just two mouse clicks, but you'll be able to tell if it's WLed in either place.

One last question...quotre....You start a belated TBR list by going to your TBR list section and clicking the 'Add a Book TBR' button.

Where does this TBR Button reside? I could not find it in my account.

Another way to add books to the TBR list from your bookshelf is to click on your book. Then there will be a "more options" on the right hand side. The third one down on that says "+TBR". If you click on that one it adds it to the TBR.

Note that there is an pretty easy way to put your entire bookshelf onto your TBR list, you don't have to do it book by book.

Go to MEMBER TOOLS at the bottom of the screen, left hand column

Click on BOOK LIST IMPORT BOOKMARK

Follow the instructions on that page to install the bookmark into your browser

Go to your bookshelf.

DOWNLOAD your bookshelf to a file on your computer

OPEN that file using your browser using the open file option under the file menu.  It will show up as a pretty plain looking list of ISBNs

Select the BOOK LIST IMPORT bookmark from the browser's list of bookmarks

You should then get a PBS page listing all the books on your bookshelf with pictures, etc.

At the bottom of the list is a pulldown menu where you specify where to import this list of books.

Select TBR LIST

Press CONTINUE

all those books should now be on your TBR list - go to the list to check it out.

I am sorry This totally did not work for me. Is there an easier way to describe it (for real dummies)?  It's awful when someone tells you something is easy and you spend a lot of time on it and cannot figure it out. Please help.

I am sorry to be a whiner, but something that should be easy is turning out to be a nightmare. Should I completely relist all my bookshelf books and is there a way to put them on TBR when I relist them? then do you have to tag all the TBR books as to which are bookshelf and which are mine to read? I keep opening the bookmarked tool and it doesn't open? Should I just give up?

Try saving the excel spreadsheet in plain text format.

OK, but the bookmark won't load. Sorry, I get hysterical when I can't get computer things to work. I'll try again later.

When I am on vacation hold, I am able to see my bookshelf and the ones on Wishlist have the green or red W next to them.  So you should be able to see which wished for ones are  on your bookshelf tab.  Before you go off vacation hold you can individually put your wishlist books that you don't want to send out on Hold, by putting a check mark next to them and hitting the hold button.  There is a drop down box that allows you to view books on hold, books not on hold and all books on your bookshelf.  If you put a book on hold on your shelf, you go to the back of the line when you take it off hold.  if you go on vacation hold, you keep your place in line.  so you probably only want to put wishlist books on hold and you might want to consider the length of the wish list when deciding which ones to keep on hold.

The Reminder list will tell you how many copies are in the system, so it is helpful to see if there are a lot or not.  I put notes on the books that I have on my bookshelf and it shows up on reminder list so I can easily identify which ones on my reminder list are there because I want to know how many are in the system.  The note shows up on the book like a yellow post it note and is easy to see when looking thru the reminder list.

Trying to get a clear picture of what is happening:

1) Are you able to open the file of ISBNs and see them in your browser window?

Are the ISBN values showing the leading zeros?

2) Is the bookmark created?

3) If so, exactly what happens when you have the ISBNs on the screen and then select the bookmark?

Cheers,

-bret

Sorry, I was flustered this morning. I will try again in the AM. I did not get the pull down menu that you mentioned that I know.

Now I went to my bookshelf, and there are no green or red W's theree next to books, I know are on WL's. Is it possible I shut that feature off accidentally?
