How do I turn off my RCs for certain books on my WL?  Is this possible?  I got turned down on a paperback when my RC applies only to HCs. :(

They just updated the requestor condition feature to do this.  This is from the PBS newsletter:

Requestor Conditions Refinement.   Now when you request a book you will have the option NOT to apply your Requestor Conditions to that request, during the process of submitting the request.  No need to go into your Account Settings to turn them off, then back to the request, then back to your Account Settings to turn them on again.  This new streamlined option should make things easier for those who use the Requestor Conditions feature.

I am not exactly sure how it works since I don't use RC's, but it sounds like now, when you request a book, you will be asked whether or not your RCs apply to this book.

I can turn them on or off when I request a specific book, but there is no place to do this on my WL.

Set the book to No for auto-request. When the offer comes in, turn off your RCs, request the book, and then turn them back on.

Grr.  I didn't see a place to turn them off.  Do I do that in my settings or on the page for that particular offer?

In your settings, right above where you have the RCs typed there is a drop down box that is set to Yes when they are on and you can change it to No to turn them off.

I have not accepted a WL book that wasn't on auto-request since the change to see if the option is in that process or not. Maybe someone who has will wander in and say if they were able to turn them off on a WL book without going into the settings.

I would think taking them off autorequest would allow you the option of turning your RCS on or off per book.

This is additional info to go with what Lisa said, it is a new upgrade from just a couple weeks ago:

Now everyone who uses Requestor Conditions will see a checkbox on each request he or she submits (on the page that has the "Process My Order" button), that gives the option of NOT applying Requestor Conditions to the book being requested.  This saves time (you don't have to go to your Account Settings to turn off RCs before requesting the book), and we think it will be useful to those who use RCs on their accounts.

I'm not sure if that would work with WL books, though, I think you still might have to go to your account settings...hmmm.  It says it happens on the "process my order" page....

Probably wouldn't work if you had your wishlist set to auto-request, which is going to process everything without further intervention from you. You would likely need to NOT have auto-request turned on, and I bet then when you accept a wishlisted offer, you have the option then. Not sure though, as I don't have any RCs and my whole WL is autorequested.

I had my RC's on, and was just offered a WL book (non auto request).  I clicked on "I want this book, send to my address" and it just went to my requested page.  It did not give me an option to turn off my RC's first.  So I've gone back to settings to turn them off and will just turn on for the one series they apply to, as before.  I really wish WL offers would give you the option to turn them off, same as regular requests.

I just had the same experience Paula had.  It seems WL books bypass the "Process My Order" screen completely.

I'm glad I didn't miss it!  I decided to just delete my RC's.  Too much of a hassle.  I can always purchase "keepers" from Amazon.

My conditions are for workbooks only... I want to know how much writing is in them (and, PBS TOS states that senders are supposed to reveal this information before sending).  In my experience, people send workbooks without the reveal. So, my conditions are "please reveal".

Well, some people just do not send ANY books if they see conditions at all.  So I have had some people simply not send me a book (even though it wasn't a workbook!) b/c they didn't want to deal with the conditions.

It will be nice when I can put my conditions on certain books only.

Marcia, you can turn your RCs on for certain books only as long as you set the WL book to NO for auto-request. Then just go to your settings and turn set the RC setting to YES before accepting any worbook offers. Do the same when you are ordering workbooks available in the system.

Sara,

I just found this earlier post. I had this problem with my WL books, too. A couple of times my WL book requests were turned down because they said that their book was a paperback book and not a HC.

I came on this forum and asked for help. With the aid of other members, I changed my RC to the following:

* If I have requested a paperback book,  please send it.

*If I have requested a hardcover book, my RC request if that it has its dust jacket.

Thanks.

Since I changed my RC, I have received all my WL requests. I had to change it because we can't click on don't show RC requests on WL books, unfortuately. But, it is possible to change your RC so that WL book senders can still honor your RC.
