You have 2 days to request it after it's offered to you. They sender then has 5 days to accept the request. If they choose the last possible day to mail, that's either 5 or 7 days later (I think it depends on whether it's a bulk order or not), and they have 2 days beyond that to click the mailed button.
So the worst possible case is 14 days from when you say you want the book until they have to say they've mailed it.

There is a wait built into the system and some people need to use it. You never know what is going on in another person's life. I always choose the last date to mail, but almost always mail the day after the request. However, on one occasion I didn't mail until the afternoon of the last day - life just got so hectic that mailing a book was WAY down on my priority list. Life - it happens!
Sigh - none of us like waiting for a book we long to owe, do we?

Diana; I would say tomorrow would be the deadline for the sender to mail the book. If it is not mailed tomorrow, check your Transaction Archive to see if it was cancelled by PBS.
the Help Center says below:
"Accepted" (with NO "will mail-by" date specified)
means that the sender has agreed to send the book by clicking "I can mail in the next 2 days", and has 5 days from the date of acceptance in which to mark the book mailed.
"Accepted" ("will mail-by" date specified)
means that the sender has agreed to send the book by clicking "I can mail later", and has until 2 days after the mail-by date shown to mark the book mailed.
If you click on the request, you may see:
"Printed:" (with a date)
means that the sender has printed your address to send the book (the request can no longer be canceled by you at this point).
The date shown here is the LAST time the address was printed. This will update if the sender reprints the address.
"Awaiting Member" after "Printed" means that the address has not yet been printed. The request can still be canceled by you at this point.
When the sender marks the book mailed, the request will move to your En Route to Me tab in My Account, and you will be sent an email from PBS telling you the book is on its way.

I used to mark I could mail in two days and a few times something came up and messed me up to where I had to PM the person to let them know it would be another day or two, I didn't like doing that. Now I mark I will mail it full time but usually it's mailed within two days.
