Active Members:

Weight Watchers support group:  Has some good articles/recipies/eating out stuff.  Also has a lot of message board forums too, in case you want to join there.

Weekly Challenges (generally the start/end of the challenges will be on Thursdays):

  • Earned points.  Post the number of points you've earned between now and August 20th, person with the most earned points wins a prize!  Deadline for posting your points is Thursday morning.  Whoever earns themselves the most points wins a fabulous prize!  Yay!  Here's the points calculator.  (Same link as in June's post.)
    • Carol: 32 points
    • June: 15 points
    • Amy: 17 points
    • Barbara: 1 point
    • Lynn: 12 points
  • This week's challenge will be to never let yourself get hungry or full.  Try to eat many small meals rather than just a few larger ones.  If you can't do 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day, just make sure you don't skip any meals and end up eating too much later.  Your metabolism will thank you and your stomach will shrink!  Think of it as eating snacks all day long-of course it doesn't need to be snacky food.  (No prize other than at the scale for this challenge.)
  • Let's work on getting in the 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day!  A serving size is one cup of leaf greens, or 1/2 cup of anything else.  Farmer's Markets are a great place to find lots of fantastic fruits and veggies, their produce is fresher than the stuff you can get in the grocery store, and its a great way to support your local economy.  As an added bonus to the challenge:  Try at least one new to you fruit or vegetable.  (If you've had them all, grab something you haven't eaten in years!)  Let us know what you tried and how you liked it!

Water!  Yay!  Keep hydrated, its good for you.  If you have a craving for something naughty, have a glass of water and wait 10 minutes...odds are you won't want it anymore.

This thread of a continuation of our previous thread in HEALTH, MIND & BODY.

BE SURE TO PUT THIS THREAD ON YOUR WATCHED TOPICS!

BTW; everyone SHOULD report in daily,   Just like a meeting!!  without the cost....hehehe

We are a group of Swap friends who decided to try to lose some weight.  We started on July 30, 2008, and some of us have weekly progress on the next pages.  Since July 30th,  I lost 28 pounds and Carol lost 35!   YAY for us!!!   Lynn, our Weight Watch Leader is struggling to lose 10 pounds.  Amy, tries but needs us to go to her house and lock up all her goodies!  LOL.  Unfortunately, others have dropped out.

Anyone is welcome to join.  We try to post our points each day and have a weekly weight in...privately.....and post what we have lost, or not!

Good luck to all.

BELOW  IS THE WEIGHT WATCHER CHART, COURTESY OF OUR WW LEADER LYNN.

Your Weight Today                                 Daily Points Target

                                A FEW  RECIPES

French toast PB sandwich-4 pts

  • 2 pieces bread (Sara Lee Delightful multi-grain) - 1 pt
  • 1 tsp Peanut Butter -1 pt
  • 1/2 banana 1pt
  • 1/4 c  eggbeaters 1 pt

Spread peanut butter on bread, slice banana and place on top and add last piece of bread then then dip in eggbeaters till bread is soaked. Fry in nonstick pan. I topped mine with 1 T sugar free syrup (0pts). It was YUMMY

AMY'S FRENCH TOAST

I had 2 pieces French Toast for breakfast too.  Only mine was made with sourdough bread (that I made), one egg and skim milk...with a drop of real vanilla extract in it.  Cooked in my non-stick pan and sprinkled with cinnamon.  Yay!

AMY'S GOOD SNACK

I like cool whip & graham cracker sammiches.  I got the cinnamon graham crackers, and regular cool whip (cause I like the regular better).  1/4 cup of cool whip spread over 4 graham cracker halves, topped with the other halfs and popped into the freezer.  1.25 points per sammich.

PAM'S BLIZZARD

  • 1 cup skim milk (1 prefer 1%) - 2 pts
  • 2 Tbsp sf/ff instant pudding mix any flavor you want - 1 pt
  • 2 Tbsp Cool Whip Free - 0 pts
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup ice cubes-sometimes I use more
  • Stir pudding mix into milk, then pour into blender. Add other ingredients and blend! Total recipe = 3 pts.
  • My favorite variation so far: add 1 sm or 1/2 large banana (1 extra pt.) plus 1 tsp. intant coffee granules. (I didn't freeze the banana)
  • I also tried the original with a couple of splashes of Torani sf Irish Cream - pretty good!
  • fudge sf/ff pudding with just the coffee (no banana) - also very good! Like a mocha smoothie.
  • Cheesecake ss/ff pudding with 1/2 cup frozen blueberries - I didn't care for it, but my family loved it!
  • I've been using my Smoothie machine and it works very well. Consistency is the same as a smoothie (use a straw), definately not as thick as a blizzard or frosty.

ONE POINT HUMMUS per 1/4 cup

  • 1 TBSP olive oil
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 can chickpeas, rinsed & drained (reserve juice till you are done)
  • 3 TBSP fresh lemon juice
  • 2 TBSP tahini
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 1 lg roasted red pepper
  • 1 tsp hot sauce
  • ¼ c plain non-fat yogurt
  • 1/8 tsp paprika

In a medium nonstick skillet, heat the oil. Add the onions and cook until they are softened and then add garlic and cook for a couple more minutes about 5 total. In a blender or food processor, puree the chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini, salt and pepper with the onion mixture till a smooth paste. If it is too thick add juice from drained beans.Pour into container and chill. It will thicken as it gets cold.

This recipe makes 16 1/4 cup servings.

Can I play too?

I am a WW leader but have had a rough spell myself lately.  I have access to the WW employee sites so I can look up info for folks.  I am going to talk with my manager about maybe joining a meeting as a member for a while.  I need to get back to basics myself.

I know all the right things to do and I can tell you what to do, but I need to do it too.

So Jess, are you going to set up rules for the group?

Subject: Of course Lynn! Come on in!! We haven't really decided on rules, but we

Welcome Lynn!!!   As far as I'm concerned, the rules should be that we all should post at the end of the day with how many points we ate, and if we went over or not.  We also should post weekly if we lost weight and how much.

Can anyone think of anything else to add?

Do you all know how many points you are supposed to have?  If not, let me know and I can help with that.

Jess, did you take the quiz?  I can get a copy of that tomorrow but I don't have it with me.  This chart will work too.  It's just that the quiz is a bit more personalized.

Jessica, yes, it looks like it's less points that it used to be.  BAD!!!   but the 35 points/week help.
