THis post should maybe go only in the general thoughts column, but I think you guys think like I do, since we enjoy these strong women characters so much!

I have decided to break up with my boyfriend of two years.  I have asked that he work on some issues and he refuses so I think this is the best step (he asked the same of me and I have really tried to better myself).

Anyway, I am really nervous about stepping back into the dating world.  I plan to get a dog, so I will have trips to the park to meet people (somehting I have wanted to do for a while and he discouraged).  Any other suggestions on meeting people?  I have done match.com in the past just to meet folks and think I am a little old for that.  But I am open to any other suggestions.  I have recently started my own business and have joined the community business association, so there may be fun people there.

I am trying to take the attitude of WWBBD...What would Becky Bloomwood do?

Congrats on taking that big step. It seems to be a scary world out there in Datingland. I think its really important to find someone that has things in common with you. I met my hubby at the gym which works for both of us. We both tried to date people that weren't into working out and it was frustrating. Its good to find someone that is supportive of your passions.

I think you have a great idea with a dog (amazing companion anyway) and walks in the park. A bookstore where you can go read is also another idea since you like to read. Online seems like a good idea but I've only met friends that way. I do have a friend that is in a great marriage with a guy that she met through eharmony.com.

Sorry I'm not much help but good luck anyway and good for you for standing up for what you need out of life and a partner. :)

Thank you Collette,

I appreciate your ideas and feedback.  I certainly do not want to jump into anything quickly, but I do want to brush up on my small talk and meeting new people skills.  I have really been in a comfort zone and I am most scared about being out of that comfort zone.

I am very fortunate that I have great friends and family and they have all been so encouraging and confirmed for me that I am a good catch and will be fine!  These are things I knew, but hearing from those dearest to me has helped tremendously!
