"Hilarious, irreverent, Terry McMillian,s heroines observe men-and contemporary America-with brawdy humor, occasional melancholy and great affection....throughly entertaining..."
Funny story about 4 black women looking for a better life.
Terry Mcmillan can write 'em like nobody else: just a tad bawdy, very real book explores human relationships and loves.
Terry McMillian at her finest! Very Real.
Very funny and entertaining.
Well-loved fiction by the wise and witty author of How Stella Got Her Groove Back.
I liked this book very much!
Did you see the movie? You'll LOVE the book!
McMillan's zesty novel tells the stories of four 30ish black women bound together by warm, supportive friendship and by their dwindling hopes of finding Mr. Right. Pocket paid a whopping $2.64 million for Exhale , which was a 29-week PW bestseller in cloth.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY REVIEW
Very enjoyable. A lot of conversations between friends who aren't afraid to tell the other when they are doing something stupid.
This is a favorite book of mine! And a favorite movie! Terry is simly the best!
A tale of four African-American women who are all looking for love, support, and friendship. This book crosses all lines and really speaks to women of all ages and races. "Waiting to Exhale" is funny, sad, and heartwarming... and even better than the movie!
So glad I read the book - I now have a very high opinion of the movie. It was perfectly cast, and the actresses perfectly portray McMillan's characters. The book is full of heart, laughs, frustrations. A novel with soul.
Abridged - 3 hours on 2 cassettes (back cover)
"A well-written, truthful, and funny story of four African-American women--four "sistuhs" who are trying to make it in this world we all live in--and the sometimes volatile world of Black female-Black male relationships." Spike Lee
This was probably on of the best books that I've ever read. The interactions between the friends and their relationships with men provide great insight into the errors many people make trying to find someone to love. It especially shows the value of friendship when that search is fruitless. Excellent book!
