I am new to PBS.  I requested a book and the status is that I am waiting on the member to respond.  It looks to me as though she might be an inactive member.  How long does the system wait for that particular member before it moves onto the next one?

She will have 48 hours to respond to the request before it is passed on to the next member who has it available.  And it will be a seemless thing that happens....you won't be notified of the transition.  So don't panic if/when you see that request sitting there for 4 or more days! :)

Actually the wait is 48 hours for a WL offer. When you place a request, the other member has 5 full days to accept the request before it is passed on to another member. The request will move on to the next person with the book furing the night after it has reached 5 days so it isn't exactly 5 days, but a little longer.

Sorry Sheila...I mis-typed.  LOL  (My brain isn't working well right now!)  A person has up 5 days after they are emailed that there is a request on their account.  (The 48 hours is the waiting time for Wishlisted book being offered to a member.....)

So sorry I gave wrong information.

The 48 hours is only for responding to a WL request. With a regular order the sender has 5 days to respond.

The Sender has 5 days to respond to a request from the time the email notification of a request is sent.

• If the sender does not respond with the 5 day period, the transaction will be canceled
  • this system action will take place at the end of the 5th day (in the middle of the night)
• If there is another copy of the book available in the system, the request will be passed along automatically to a new sender.
  • This will happen without an email notification to the requestor.

• If there is no other copy of the book available, the request will be canceled, the requestor gets her credit back, and the book placed on the requestor's Wish List.
  • If this happens, an email notification will be sent to the requestor.
