I emailed her awhile back and asked if there would be anymore Barney books. Her assistant emailed me back saying that she was concentrating on just Plum books for now.  I personally feel that Stephanie needs to move to the 'burbs, have her 2.5 kids and white picket fence already.

That being said-I will probably eventually get the next one on CD from the library. But I wouldn't pay money for another one or go out of my way to get it.

I am with you!  They stopped being interesting a few books ago.

Hee hee.

I would not bother reading the last book, whenever it ends, if you want to know who she chooses. Due to the huge following for both, she is sure to end it with a cliffhanger -- Stephanie will choose, but I'm sure we will never know who.

That said, she has a non-Plum book out in September. Diesel is getting his own book. It's Wicked Appetite. Amazon I think says it is a Stephanie Plum but I am pretty sure that Stephanie is not in the book.

I think she needs to just  let both of them go and let them get on with t heir lives. too bad she married off the sister to that loser lawyer..I was kinda thinking she and morelli would be more suited since heknows what he wants. I think they both deserve better than that dingbat.

This is from her website: I might give the 1st Diesel book a try. But I'll only read one if it's too similar to the Plum books.  And I probably won't buy it but get it from the library.

Wicked Appetite publication date announced

This just in. The first book of the new Diesel series, Wicked Appetite, will be published on September 14, 2010.  There will be a book tour, but we don't yet have the cities and dates yet.  We should know more about that by early August.

I gave up on Stephanie Plum three books ago.  She is really TSTL and has always been that way.  It stopped being funny about the third book.

I really do think that she is a good author.  But, she needs to find something new to write about.

Hopefully the Diesel books will be a departure.  Not just the same characters, same silly plot devices with just a different main character.

It says on the evanovich.com web site that Stephanie will not appear in the Diesel books, but they are told from the point of view of a female character. Hopefully there will not be a triangle in that series. :P

Yuppers, I've enjoyed my share of laughs with Stephanie but it's time to wind this one up...before the heroine strokes out from all the junk food.  She may drool on Ranger, but my money is on Morelli for the finish.  After the first dozen, this series has been library reads for me.  Any new series or releases will probably be the same, unless Ms. Evanovich really shows me something new and fun (which probably won't be Diesel).

I only read part of Book 1 of the Plum series (like 6-7 books out then)  because that's when I realized it was going to be an exercise in frustration.

I had just read the Hannah Swensen Mysteries series (Chocolate Chip Cookie Murders)  -- alot like Plum but with baked goods and set in a small town.  Also a love triangle with a "drooly" sheriff  and the nice guy dentist.  I followed faithfully until about book 5 and lost my patience.  Make a flippin decision, Hannah!  It's cute and funny if you pick up books at random and don't care about following the characters.  If you do, it's frustrating as heck.  What's cute in the first book looks like major personality flaws by book 5.  (Did I mention make a flippin decision already??? )

No need to repeat the situation with Plum, no matter how entertaining.

I'm up to book 7 or 8 on the Hannah Swensen books and I'm also thinking about stopping them.  I'm so tired of the whole Norman or Mike thing.  Then she through in the the movie producer.   Ugh pick one and get on with the mysteries.  I like Norman better but I think the series would be better if she chose Mike and then was sticking her nose in his investigations.

I could barely read the first plum book, I then tried the audio books and have really enjoyed them. I think I am on book 4 so the frustration hasn't hit me yet. I just need to get my mp3 fixed so I can listen to the rest.

I read through the entire series last year (along with all of the Tara Janzens), first time in my reading history I read an entire series (much less TWO) in a short amount of time. I really had to push myself to read the final 3-4 Hannah books, but I dole out the Plum books to myself so I won't overdose on them as I'm still enjoying them. I'm not sure I care enough about Hannah to read future books.

I'm not a big fan of this type of unending series; I like a trilogy, quartet at the most, and so much of the romance / publishing industry is based on these endless books. What's Sue Grafton going to do once she reaches "Z"? I stopped reading her books around M or N.

Now Tara Janzen is another story!! So hot, so sexy, I want more.

T is for Tresspass was quite different for the Sue Grafton books.  She wrote from the villains perspective and it was quite different from the rest of the series.  I here U is Undertow is good.

I listen to the Plum and Hannah Swensen books on audio so that's why I've been able to stick with them longer.  Plus I never pay anything for them. I get the CDs from the library. If the library doens't have one then I just skip that one-but this library here seems to have them all.

I'm about done with the Goldie Locks Catering books by Diane Mott Davidson as well. I would never actually pay money for those either. But the library seems to have all the audios.
