Looks like Kim Harrison is your best bet:

Dead Witch Walking, The Good, the Bad, and the Undead, Every Which Way but Dead, and A Fistful of Charms.

You know I would think a sort of gothic paranormal would be the best way to go.  LOL  I loved that show but I don't know of any books that I would say fit the profile.

Thanks for the link.  We don't have cable, so I guess that's why I hadn't heard of it.

Chris, have you read any of Simon R. Green's book?

Also, if you haven't already read this series try Rachel Caine's first series of books:  the Morganville Vampires is set in a college town and has vampires, ghosts, and all kinds of "bad" things.

Hi Chris... I loved the HEX series too..... wonder why they are taking it off the air??? I thought it was a big hit in England, especially...seemed to take the US fans a bit longer to get into it....

I think the ratings weren't that great in england.  I liked the show but I didn't like the second season as well as the first.  But I was really ticked at the series finale.  But I would be interested in finding some books similar to it.

I think skyone just dropped it. The ratings were good enough to go here on BBC America so they couldnt have been that bad. And yes it sucks that it was dropped but I knew there were only two seasons just didnt realize they canceled it before they actually ended the story.

Nothing so far Leah I ordered one that was suggested (cant remember which one right now) but I havent got it yet.

BBC America had another show I liked that I cant find now called Sea of Souls. It was based in my dream. The University of Edinburgh in Scotland which is the only place in the world where you can still get a doctorate in Parapsychology. Of course it was about the parapsychologists and it was really good. I miss it.
