The National Reader's Choice Awards run by the Oklahoma Romance Writers of America is looking for judges for their 2010 contest.

You get four books to read and have to read them in about 2-3 months.  You fill out a sheet judging them (nothing too hard) and send it back it to the coordinator.  The books are yours to keep.  The books are usually signed and are from top Christian romance authors. I've gotten a bunch of good books in the past, ranging from Love Inspireds to Amish to romantic suspense.  If you don't want to do Christian fiction you can sign up to judge other genres as well.

I signed up....I hope I don't have to read anything other than the Christian Fiction...but, if I had to read #2 or #3 of my choices I guess I would live.

I am with you Christy. I only read Christian books but I guess I could take young adult or a woman's book with not a lot of romance. Definitely don't want some of the categories on there:(

The coordinator that contacted me about this said they are in need of more inspirational judges so it's guaranteed you'll be getting Christian fiction

If you sign up are you "picked" or is it more like a possibility you'll be picked? Does that make sense?

I can't wait til we all get our books! Deborah, are we allowed to talk about what we are judging or is this a secret ballot thing?

i'm not sure...they'll be sending out the information about what you need to do when you get your books.  i've never actually done this with people i know before, so i've never had anyone to talk about it with!

I signed up, too.  Hopefully, I won't be getting anything but the Christian fiction because the other stuff just doesn't interest me.  *crossing my fingers*

Thanks for the info, Deborah!

I was going to sign up but noticed the dates were 2010. Is this an old form or one that is circulating too late to even take part. It says the books should come Jan. 2010 and be read by April 1, 2010.  January puts us in 2011.  Please let me know if you find out that is a misprint.   Thanks, Meg

I'd sign up, but the form says no aspiring writers as judges, so I guess that cuts me out. LOL Y'all have fun! :)

Has anyone heard anything from this yet?  I think I read somewhere on the website that we would get email from them in January to confirm everything??  The email address that I used to sign up gets a lot of spam, so I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything.
