After many years, I will be leaving PBS as soon as I receive my most recent (and final) Wish List book.  I have some small $ left as PBS $ intended to pay for postage.  May I give it to a PBS member, or do I just leave - and have it return to PBS?

Leaving because I find so few books I enjoy being posted - and waiting years (literally) for Wish List just not worth it.

AFAIK PBS money is not transferable.

You can send in Feedback and ask the Team. The TofU state it would go to the Team, but you can ask them to transfer it to another member and see what they say. We can't transfer PBS money ourselves, but the Team could probably do that.

Not sure how much money you have, but another option would be to buy credits from the PBS Kiosk and then transfer the credits to another member.  If you currently don't have enough money or it's not an even amount, you could add just enough to your account to buy the credits, then transfer them to a friend through the Give Credits option.  That way, you won't have to worry about losing your money altogether.

Hope that helps!

Sorry you are no longer enjoying PBS membership Paula.  Interesting question, please share your solution before you go.

I thought money put in the postage account couldn't be used for buying credits.

Mary, that was changed a while ago. Now, PBS Money can be used to purchase from the Kiosk or PBS Market, as well as for postage and DC services.

Tiffany, I never heard that was changed.  When you click on PBS Money, it says:

(underlining is mine)

This money is used to pay for the optional Delivery Confirmation and Custom DC features. PBS money can also be used for the optional preprinted postage to send your books. PBS money does not purchase book credits: to purchase book credits, choose Credits in the Kiosk.

They did change this back in May.

You can contact the team and ask them if you can gift your money.  Contact the Team by clicking on Contact Us bottom right of this screen (under Company) and then the feedback button.  June, I wonder if they didn't update the PBS Money ordering page.

Paula, I hope the reason you are leaving isn't because you are unhappy with PBS.  If not, you may want to consider donating the credits to PBS to help keep the site free (just an option). The other option, if this is temporary, put your account on vacation hold.  I am sorry you are leaving and wish you the best.

From the help docs.

PBS Money is now a payment option in the Kiosk/Market!

Introduced 5/12/2010.

Now you will be able to pay for anything in the Kiosk or Market using PBS Money!  This is something members have wanted for a long time and we're so happy to provide this.  You will find a new button in the Kiosk "Secure Checkout with PBS Money" below the other options.

Please note: there will be no Kiosk transaction fee associated with purchases paid for with PBS Money, as the original PBS Money purchase involved a transaction fee.

Wow!  I didn't know that.  I remember suggesting it to tptb and they said they were working on it, but never saw a notification that it had become an option.  So Cool!!
