are there any true ghost story encounters books, that are really scary? I would like some ideas. I read the amittyville horror, and the amityville horror 2, that's about it, I tried reading about the Salem witch trials but, kind of lost my way halfway through the book. I am a huge ghost fan, I watch A Haunting when it comes on, I like to watch The Ghost hunters, and around Halloween, I like to watch familys go through those haunted castles, even if they are fake! So come on what is your favorite true ghost story book out there?!

Do you want a scientific look at the ghost stories or do you want more of a home spun personal story sort of book?

For the first just about every book by Hans Holzer has that scientific feel. For the latter try Night Stalks the Mansion (check my profile for a review of it)

I love non-fiction ghost stories and have probably read nearly all that have ever been published. (By the way, I also love "A Haunting" on Discovery.)

Here are some of my favorite true ghost books:

When the Ghost Screams by Leslie Rule

Coast to Coast Ghosts by Leslie Rule

Ghosts Among Us by Leslie Rule

Overshadows by Richard Palmisano

Haunted by Dorah L. Williams

Grave's End by Elaine Mercado

House of Spirits and Whispers by Annie Wilder

The Myrtles Plantation by Frances Kermeen

Ghost by Katherine Ramsland

Echoes of a Haunting by Clara Miller

Show Me One Soul by Nancy Stallings

The Black Hope Horror by Ben Williams (This is a favorite of mine. It's ultra-rare though, and is usually somewhat expensive. However, it is scary and well-written, which makes it worth every penny. I found a used copy on eBay for $5.00 a few years ago, but I think the book usually sells for around $30-50. If you're interested in this book, definitely check out eBay and see what is listed.)

The People in the Attic by Doretta Johnson
