I want to offer 2 for 1. I know that you should post this in the book bazaar. However, what are the logistics? Meaning...do they just buy one book and tell you the other one they want in a message? Could someone give me some advice? Thank you!

Yes, that is usually how it works.

They would order one of the books, and then PM you with the other book that they want for free. You would just take the free book off your bookshelf as soon as possible, so that other people don't order it, too. Some people may multiply your offer and order 2 and want 2 for free, etc. It seems to be generally acceptable to most people to do that.

If you read some of the offers in the Book Bazaar, you should get the idea of what most people offer.

Good luck!

You can also advertise it in your signature line, which you would access from your "account" page, under "settings" tab, go to "forum" and enter it there. It will then appear under the line in any forum postings you make and will be updated whenever you change it.

Ask people to PM you and post in the thread when they order and which books they ordered and asked as a freebie. That'll help cut down on people asking for the same books.  Also ask people to turn of RCS if you won't honor them (or can't like no pets or smoking or something).  If someone does request the deal with RCS: don't decline the RC.  If you do the request rolls over to the next person with the book and then the requestor doesn't get a deal.  Ask them to cancel the request, accept the RCS and then PM them warning them.

Keep your bookshelf updated.  Don't post the deal and then disappear form PBS for a few days at a time. Only post the deal if you can be on regularly to check it and keep your shelf up dated.

And if you plan on only offering the deal for a few days, or a week, please make sure you put that in your posting.  I've tried to take advantage of offers before only to be told that it's over.  And it's only the day after the original posting.....

I use PBS postage. How do you tell the system you want to mail two books to one person if they don't actually order but the one book?

Nancy - Just update the weight of the package when you are purchasing postage. So let's say the book ordered from your shelf is 6 oz. (and would originally go first class) and the requestor wants a second book as a freebie. Then you should weigh the package with the 2 books and put that weight in. So let's say the two books weigh 14 oz. so that's the weight you should put in.

In order to get an accurate postage amount you must have a scale that weighs in ounces. You would weigh the two books and the packaging, change the weight on the print label page to reflect the right weight and print your label.
