The first 1/2 of the book is a great read with heart breaking history becoming personal. In my favorite western, Ride the Wind, the Comanche are depicted in a good light, so it was hard reading at times to hear the atrocities that went on. But by the last 1/2 of the book the reader comes to realize there is no black and white to anything and deep moments of personal inspiration and courage are shared. I carried it everywhere with me...the bathtub, the car, restaurants, until I finished as I couldn't wait to find out what happened.
